Strange loss of conciousness
    #14080094 - 03/07/11 09:01 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I got a bit drunk on the weekend and fell into a very deep sleep on the couch while my friends went up stairs to keep talking.

We'd been hanging out all day together and counting myself there was 5 of us in the house.

When you've had a bit to drink you go into a very deep sleep and it is hard to wake you up. It's actually not normal to wake from such a deep sleep. You are meant to wake up from the REM phase of sleep.

But anyways all of a sudden I was awake and this girl was looking down at me. I was looking at her trying to work out what was going on. I really didn't know what was happening. The weirdest thing was I said "where is everyone else?" and she told me they were all upstairs. And I asked her who was upstairs. She told me it was "Dennis", "Aaron", and "Kate". and then I said "but someone is missing, there should be another person here".

to which she replied, 'no that makes 5 of us, there are only 5 people here'.

And I said "no there should be someone else here"

And I actually insisted on this for a bit longer until I had woken up and realised that the person who was missing was myself... in my disoriented state I was not conscious enough to recognise I was also in the house...

It was very weird and I probably haven't explained it nearly well enough. any idea on what was going on?

I'm about to point out the obvious, but it seems you were very tired, drunk and disoriented.

Yeah I know the obvious but I'm trying to work out the implications it has on the whole concept of consciousness..

Oh and she did want me to have sex with her but I said no. I'm still not sure why I said no. hrmmmm I was even well awake when I said it!

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.
