Just some questions on my failed cakes.

Alright so my entire last batch didn't work. I put them all in my pressure cooker for 60 mins and knocked them up all with the same source and while they looked like they were good to go 2 weeks later when I took them out they were sticky and crumbly and not all that white. This time I did 6 in the pressure cooker for 60 mins and 6 pot steamed for 90 mins. I noticed when I took them out that the ones that came out of the pressure cooker had a strange sweet smell and the rice flour parts seemed to have expanded maybe and they actually resembled rice sorta. The ones that came out of the pot resembled the batch that actually worked so I was happy about that. Am I right to assume that my pressure cooker is overcooking them? Maybe I'm not using the pressure cooker right, it seems to get to a point where steam comes out of the valve but then it backs off and doesn't do it again.

You do need to use a pressure cooker properly, but it's hard to say if that's the problem you're having without pics.

BRF cakes only need like a half hour in a PC at 15 psi.

Heh I haven't injected anything into them yet. The pressure cooker one is just a lot browner/grayer and has splotches of them all through it while the pot one looks like it did before it went into the pot. How long should I cook them for in the pressure cooker?

OK, there are several things that come to mind.
First, what is the recipe you are using. It looks to me like maybe it's too wet.
Also, are you covering the jars with tin foil?
If not, then water is getting in the jars and ruining the moisture level.

Ok backing up a bit...
Can you give more info as to what happened when you opened the jars.
Did they smell funky? Was there green mould?
Or was it just not colonized?
Also, how are you grinding the brown rice?
It looks pretty chunky

well the one i have is fairly older, but i am sure you could purchase one for around 25 US dollars
i swear by the veg steamer for pf style cakes!
you want to get one that is this sort of style where the H20 goes in the bottom where it is white,,, and your jars go in the plastic basket thingy
also... if you use a steamer the jars most def need the tin foil over them, and i usually leave my lids just snug with masking tape to cover the injection holes
i am a freak when it comes to sterility so i also put a dry layer of verm, just to be SAFE

2 parts verm 1 part water 1 part brf
When I took the failed batch out they were just sort of a dull white/light grey with no green, they were very sticky and had a slight sweet smell after dunking I still tried to fruit them but they just got cobweb.
Yea it seemed like this batch was a lot wetter than the last batch which is weird because the only thing I have done different is not blend up the coarse verm. I think you are right about water getting into the jars but I still think they are getting over cooked in there because it sort of smells like honey when I crack the lid on the pressure cooker. The rice was blended but I didn't blend it for too long. The pressure cooked one looks a lot chunkier than the pot one for some reason.
Thanks for your help guys

It's really simple man. I'm not sure how this topic got so far off track.
You got the recipe right. Fill 3/4 of each half pint jar with substrate. Top with dry verm. Make sure the holes in your lid are covered tight with foil. PC for 60-90min at 15psi. Make sure you add enough water to the bottom of your PC to handle this cooking time. Cool overnight, open when ready to inoculate. It will smell like cooked BRF when you open the PC usually. Spray oust all over the room, clean your surfaces, wash up and put on a dust mask and gloves. Clean your glovebox. Move the jars to the glovebox, inoculate carefully and quickly. Leave holes uncovered, place somewhere that gets a little light. Let them colonize for 3-4 weeks and let them sit an additional week to consolidate before birthing.
Don't worry so much about how your substrate looks. if you follow these directions, you'll be fine usually. I've had mine look wet, dry, etc, and they all colonized fine.
Most likely, your first problem was birthing them after two weeks. This is nowhere near enough time. The cobweb probably took over the unocolonized, messy substrate that got wet from the dunk.
Patience! They perform great when you follow the teks
