What movie should I get to test our new tv?
    #14077860 - 03/06/11 08:44 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I got Fear of loathing in las vagas on my computer and it was alright.  Looking for something else. Like an alien movie or something.  Just got an HDMI cable for our Xbox 360 so I can download any 1080p movie and convert it to 1080p xbox format on a 8gb flash drive.

I'd say your favorite action movie or something like LOTR.  Just for testing your tv only right?  Basically any kind of epic movie that has a good sound score bc basically any movie looks so much better in HD .

We don't even have a cable box hooked up to this tv.  Honestly if I was gonna watch tv shows, I would torrent them in 720 or 1080p and load them onto a flash drive.

Maybe planet earth, Or what about that underwater, sea movie, by Disney I think..  I don't watch movies twice really but I only watched tron on a 3.5" screen, same with avatar and 2012 the first time.  Watched 2001 A Space Odyssey recently and I was kinda bored.  Starman? Is that good?

Trying to find a Megamind 1080p rip.

Ok, I was going to highly recommend using component cables instead of HDMI (much better quality from my experience) for the full HD experience.

Planet Earth would be great. Or if you want to watch something recent, try to find a HD torrent of Despicable Me or Up. Something to showcase the extremely awesome color palate.

I recently watched that in HD. It was like a whole different movie.

I don't know about the component>HDMI part.  Looked it up and it said it might depend on the video source, Like component might look better on a cable box while HDMI might look better with a dvd player.  HDMI is digital lossless 1080P signal on our xbox 360 so I'm sure its fine.

Getting Despicable Me 1080p Bluray.x264/MKV (6.56 GiB).  Hope my program for converting (badaboom) compresses it good and doesn't ruin the quality because I only have an 8gb flash drive.  Its stupid that xbox 360 doesn't suport MKV but I think it might actaully suport x264 MP4.  Confusing.  Getting E.M. Total Video Converter HD cuz Badaboom only does up to 5000 bit-rate video.

Wall-E is probably the best looking HD movie I can think of atm.  However if you're downloading them it really depends on the quality of the conversion the uploader chose
