Hypocritical media
    #1407693 - 03/25/03 06:37 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Dont believe in the propaganda macine in the Western media? Dont beleive things are being purposely skewed? than read the article

So for the longest time, since the first war even- US media has shown hundreds of pictures of charred Iraqi's. Gruesome photos of dead people - from the other side. What happens when the other side shows some dead Americans? Well, the US govt and media whines of course.... its not ethical, or un-American or something...

Well first of all I have seen very few (if any) pictures of dead iraqis on the regular news networks. Plus they are mostly showing dead Iraqis on Al-Jazeera not Americans as you claim (at least according to the article).

"The 24-hour news network has been feeding its viewers a diet of burned, maimed and dead Iraqis along with the more antiseptic military briefings, anti-war protests and diplomacy."

Al-Jazeera spews emotional dribble and propaganda all the time. By showing so many pictures of the dead they try to bring about an emotional response to the war instead of a rational one.

"The station has 65 million viewers around the world. Al-Jazeera has reporters embedded with U.S. forces in Iraq (news - web sites). Top U.S. officials regularly appear on Al-Jazeera's political pundit shows and grant interviews to its journalists."

Sounds like we are really being rough on them. We let them follow our military forces.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniencies attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas Jefferson

Death and war is an emotional issue! How can you eliminate emotions from something so traumatic?

By pushing the fact that this war is justified, and necessary to ensure the safety of people.

Big Media, left and right, is filled to the brim with hypocritical liars.

That is old news.

When you "feel" instead of think, they've got ya! Which was their intention all along.

Cheers,

It's the same thing with politicians. Notice that in political debates, politicians rarely ever point out argument fallacies like people on this message board do. I can think of one situation in the 2000 election where Al Gore did just that to Bush, and Bush said something to the effect of "Well, this isn't debate team." Most Americans will just scratch their heads when you use words like "Ad Hominem." But they understand emotions, so that's what appeals to them.
