Evidence of Alien Life Found Inside Meteorite.

Quote:
In what's sure to rekindle the debate over the question of life beyond Earth, a scientist at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center says he has fossil evidence of bacterial life inside of a rare class of meteorites .
Writing in the March edition of the Journal of Cosmology, Richard B. Hoover argues that an examination of a collection of 9 meteorites - called CI1 carbonaceous meteorites - contain "indigenous fossils" of bacterial life.
"The complex filaments found embedded in the CI1 carbonaceous meteorites represent the remains of indigenous microfossils of cyanobacteria, " according to Hoover. That matter-of-fact sentence also underscores the shout-out-loud implication that the detection of fossils of cyanobacteria in the CI1 meteorites raises the possibility of life on comets. And Hoover does not shy away from offering that very conclusion.
Skeptics will doubtless weigh in soon with questions. Still, Hoover's proposition may have stirred more controversy several years ago. More recently, though, some scientists have suggested that meteors and comets slamming into the Earth brought with them the very integuments of life, including water and a host of complex organic chemicals. If he's right, Hoover may have evidence to support that theory. He argues that the complex filaments he found embedded in the meteors are micro-fossils of extraterrestrial life forms that existed on the meteorites a long time ago prior to the meteorites' entry into the Earth's atmosphere.
"This finding has direct implications to the distribution of life in the Cosmos and the possibility of microbial life on in liquid water regimes of cometary nuclei as the travel within the orbit of Mars and in icy moons with liquid water oceans such as Europa and Enceladus," he writes.

if i was highly advanced civ that wanted to pre seed worlds this might be how i would do it
just speculating
but what are yalls opinion on how bacteria could get in the asteroid or comet
i mean thats a pretty harsh environment

Maybe it's from a planet that blew up.

Well my anthropomorphic view is if our world is on the brink of destruction somehow and we don't have inter-solar system travel our best bet is to try and shoot off bacteria and other life forms to colonize new planets.
Much more likely is if our world is hit by a massive meteor or some other cosmic event pieces of our plant with organisms frozen inside might go flying off to some other place in the universe.
I've wondered if that was how life got started.
Some scientist dude built RNA in a lab. Saw it on Nova. Reference: pbs.org

i wouldnt be suprised.. its filthy selfish of humans to think that we're so "special", that in a universe with as many stars as grains of sand on all the beaches on the world, we are the "only" planet who could have life, because were "so" special.
Just like humans are SOO important in the universe that the creator of this universe, must have made us in his own image. Oh and he is always watching all of our actions.

and you gota think some of these comets are perfect bio labs with-regular freeze heat cycles
organic molecules and for some close passes to various sources of radiation

yeah people are damn slow. Im 100% sure that the universe is teeming with microbial life which eventually evolves into more complex shit.

Good news, but what is it worth?
There's tons of life forms on the planet, how many are intelligent? How much time did it take to make an intelligent organism even once? And whose to even say intelligence is helpful?
I don't doubt there's life out there but I think that while "life" may be common to assume all life can lead to "intelligence" is a different story.

Check out the crazy fucking comments on the Fox News article
I'm reserving judgment but it seems very, very plausible to me that life would spread in such a matter after, say, a giant meteorite hits a planet and pieces fling off in to space.

Intelligence could be relevant in the sense that another extraterrestrial life is so far ahead of us we become the primal, unintelligent beasts. I'm convinced that it is a little presumptuous of us to rule out anything. Humans know so little in the grand scheme of things.

Well I definitely agree with that; we don't know shit. I find it fascinating that bacteria evolved on this planet and over the course of billions of years is able to ask "where am I and why am I".
Didn't mean to put this down at all because its amazing news to hear.

I didn't take it that way, just throwing ideas out there. It's facsinating stuff, but who knows? Science moves so fast nowadays it's hard to predict anything. I'm still waiting on my god damn Jetsons hovercraft.

I'm waiting for the "never have to sleep" pill that would allow me to have 24 hours of awake all the time.
Then I'd invent aliens
