At michaels everyone is pretty much forced to do cashier at some point during the day. It sucks.

You should put insects in the cash register. That'll teach em to make you do registers.

Nah, they would just make me clean it out. We put fake cockroaches in them at Halloween, and there's always ongoing jokes with fake rats and bloody severed arms appearing in strange locations

Theoretically I have to. And I'll have to learn it sooner or later, whether I actually do it. Learn their system, I mean. I know how to cashier.
But I try extra extra hard to be much more useful everywhere else so that putting me on the register is the obvious last option. I mean, if I'm on register, who is going to carry that big box out in the snow, right?

whenever they make me cashier at my work, I intentionally don't try to do a very good job. I've been in my field for 10 years, so I'm an expert on many other aspects, so it's not like they are gonna get rid of me for poor cashiering. Plus I rarely have to do it.
Morning LNC. In my break from drinking and smoking weed, I've been having CRAZY ass vivid dreams. All I can say is weird.
Just getting up. I'm gonna go for a morning walk if I can pull myself away from the puter, then have some blueberry granola and honey yogurt and green tea. Then go to work.

Haha, yeah that's how I do too. They usually have me on the floor but it always gets backed up and floor people always get called up there. Where do you work?

Oh and also, its funny you say that about carrying out heavy boxes. Our store is 90% women and the few guys who do get hired never get register trained because they are used for grunt work like that. Its kinda sexist I think.

I like sexism when it means I don't have to cashier

It's not sexist, it's efficient use of store resources. Women are every bit as competent as men- but some of these girls are tiny. I'm happy to put my upper body to work helping to protect people who can run the registers.

Yeah, I guess when you put it that way I'm pretty thankful to not have to lug around heavy boxes all day

I put these big bulky boxes up on the top shelf from a stair-ladder. 40-50 pounds. Not terribly heavy, but amazingly awkward boxes. Off-center balance, for one thing. Lots of people aren't even big enough to get the box up on their shoulder, which is step one. I always tell the dads "don't feel stupid if you drop this once. I did." Which is a lie, I've dropped them more than once. Only once from the top of the ladder though!

Ugh, I hate those stair ladders. They wobble and several times I have almost tipped them too far to the side while on them. We have to lift these heavy ass trees up way up high on the walls.
When I first started working here, I was getting some boxes of candy down and some idiot stacked them way high. I knocked them off and they fell on this lady and hurt her shoulder. I felt sooo bad and she gave me the meanest eat shit and die look. I thought I was going to be fired for sure.

40 pound box, 8 pounds per baby. Five babies, that's why they're off center.
