I dunno, I would think that at least SOME degree of regulation with another ridiculously money-hungry drug company would be better than some kids or wives receiving their dads or husbands head in a cooler because he got scared of getting caught and dipped out on his border run

I can't think of anything that has the same long term easy profits as illegal drugs
It'd be a pretty big hit to their coffers

You think they would just let there empire die out, or take this hit on there organizations quietly and peacefully? It would be a large hit to there income, but im pretty sure it would start a all out war.

NO junkies would have access to their drugs and not resort to crime.
Look at the FACTS and statistics. Felonies have dropped 50%-80% in heroin maintenance programs in 7 EU countries.
Cartels going out of their way to buy guns to wage war with no profit and just dumping money down the drain

And would they resort to crime with extremely cheap programs where they don't have to commit crimes to get drugs? no.
no offense but you are barking up the wrong tree.

You can say whatever you want, but all social experiments with these programs show they are highly effective and extremely useful financially socially.

What are these programs you speak of? Being such a consumerist society I think the corporations that took control of the trade would do everything they could to turn as many people as possible into addicts. Leading to higher crime rates and a further degradation of society.
And would you please think of the children.

imagine drugs are legalized and regulated overnight. All of a sudden every 7-11 and grocery store in the country carries a wide assortment of pure pharmaceutical-grade heroin, cocaine, LSD, PCP, DMT, MDMA, MDA, Ketamine, Opium, Mushrooms!Super Ganja, and a wide variety of Uppers, Downers and In-betweeners. All available to anyone of legal age.
These of course would come with funny and informative stickers and sayings on them, like Warning: Crack is addictive and should not be taken by pregnant women or infants Do not inject this heroin directly into your eyeball And so on. Signs would of course have to be placed like: Crack is Whack, yo! And educational brochures would need to be printed to inform and educate people about drugs so they can make an educated decision about what they want to put in their body.
A few junkies just go crazy and overdose and die right off the bat, but they were going to anyway. Consumption of drugs would escalate at first but even out and probably decrease over time due to people just being bored with it. It's just not mysterious and forbidden anymore. All of a sudden the black market for drugs is brought to it knees, this would of course have ramifications in all aspect of the economy with a domino-like chain reaction effect. But most importantly in the cartels becoming crippled. The DEA would dissolve like piss in the wind. Lots of closet farmers would have to get real jobs.
Instantly, billions of dollars are being saved with keeping non-violent victimless drug offenders out of prison which currently constitutes over 50% of the prison population. The war on drugs ends, effectively saving hundreds more billions. We can spend all that extra 200 trillion dollars we save on building hemp biofuel technology and free education for the masses
