I personally believe that driving hung over is much more risky than driving drunk.

When I drink I run home, my friends think I'm crazy, the furthest drunk run I did was 5 miles but I'd rather do that than sleep on my friends couch sometimes or get into a car with a drunk.  Plus, me pay a taxi? I have legs that work.  I'm just waiting for the time I black out and wake up in the woods half way home

Just be careful you don't run through the bad parts of town... my friend decided to do this recently and ended up getting shanked by two gang members; got him in the stomach and narrowly missed puncturing his lungs.  The crazy bastard didn't think he was hurt that bad so he walked the rest of the way to his house and then passed out in the bathtub.   Luckily he survived, but all I'm saying is watch yourself or at least make sure you have something to use for self-defense if it comes down to it.  What's even worse is that his girlfriend didn't think to clear his house of drugs before the police/paramedics showed up; at least they didn't charge him for the massive amounts of weed that were lying around.

It sounds egotistical and ignorant, actually. Are your reflexes the exact same drunk as sober? I'm going to say no, they probably aren't.

Obviously not, but also obviously I understand how to compensate for impaired motor skills while driving. I know my body and my mind.

I'm telling you, you can't argue with my track record, and there are many others like me who are just fine intoxicated behind the wheel, but get in trouble for it anyway because people can't handle their shit. Driving drunk doesn't make you stupid, stupid driving makes you stupid.

You are not going to convince me otherwise.

Agreed.  I've driven drunk many times and have never blown a red light, gone past the speed limit, made an illegal turn, or violated a traffic rule or regulation.  Granted, I might have had problems if something unexpected had happened like another car veering into my own lane or a child jumping into traffic given my slower inebriated reflexes, but I've never understood the idiots who get shit-faced and then treat the road like it's their own private raceway.

I don't drive drunk anymore because of the very fact that something unexpected might happen, but just had to put in my :2cents:.  Some people can handle their shit driving while drunk; others can't.  The trouble is that those in the latter category usually think they're in the former.

You might actually be onto something here. Everything's so bright, your hands are shakey, you're nervous and jumpy... almost like it would be safer to drive with a beer or two in you.

Man, if I was drunk and killed 2 friends while driving I'm not sure I'd ever forgive myself for that. Must be a terrible, unreal feeling.

It's pretty much like the reaction problems that drinking causes, plus a raging headache, barely able to keep your eyes open, huge mental fog and a lot of other nasty things.

I'd personally rather have someone drive drunk than hungover the next morning any day of the week.

I know some mornings when I woke up after barely any sleep, splitting headache and etc etc that I turned right around and went back to my friends house to catch a few more hours of ZzZz. Hell one time I was locked out at 8am and had to catch a cat nap in my truck outside my friends house because she lost his phone and I locked her door behind me.

Plus, if you drank a LOT the night before, your BAC could still be above the legal limit come morning time. I remember a few months ago a State Trooper got a DUI at 10am because he drank too much the night before, tried to sleep it off at a friends house, but had to go home in the morning.

I'd honestly rather drive home drunk and alert than hungover and completely unaware of my surroundings the next morning.

But I don't drink any more, so it's not much of a problem.

I've always wondered what would happen if you had a seizure driving... recently I asked a doctor that question and he said they take your license away if you have epilepsy.

If I close my eyes and let the quick, irregular flashes of light from the sun flickering through the trees as I drive by flash across my eyelids, I have tiny, mini-seizures. Its only for like a fifth of a second, but my body jerks rigid and I black out.

A few years ago a guy had a seizure and slammed into the back of my gf's car and kept pushing and pushing (cause his foot was slammed on the gas pedal). He must have pushed her 150 ft with her brakes locked up.

It happens. But if you are prone to seizures and are on proper medication to control or eliminate them, I see no reason for someone like that to not be allowed to drive.

It's like not allowing someone who is Bipolar to drive because there might be a chance that they'll go manic and go 150mph down the freeway.

Or someone with heat disease. They could have a heart attack, lose control of the car and plow into a bus full of nuns.

I know the feeling. Except for the reaction. One of the roads I drive home to frequently is through a state park and ever since Fall and all the leaves dropped, it's like a constant intense flicker of sunlight for 10 miles. Shit gives me a headache.

Yeah it doesn't worry me because it only happens if I close my eyes and let it flicker across my eyelids. Its trippy as shit to do when I'm a passenger though.

The past couple of days it has really bothered me. It's always around 5:30, trees are bare of leaves and man it's like a strobe light.

the families of the dead aren't pressing charges, she's only getting a DUI.  I would say that is good for us tax payers because prison wasn't going to change anything.
