Imma pic whore :datass:

I went with the clear tubs last run I did but I need 4' strip lights instead of these lamps I have now, they work but look ghetto as hell.

Have you seen these mini-floros they have at walmart?

They are the perfect length to lay over a tub and only cost 6 bucks a piece. The 6500k bulb is another six though so your in it for about 15 bucks because it comes with the wrong bulb.

I used to use one of these on all my tubs,.

The yield was always out of this world.

They flood so much light in there.

Now I use the standard floro shop light and run 6 of them over head. I don't worry about down low.... I just rotate the levels as flushes go on.

That set up looks pretty boss though bro

yea, I'm about 3/4 done w/ my 2x4 + 4mm plastic wrapped room...just gotta get the roof/lid on the bitch + the final "wall" then my grow room will be done...As for the lab...I need to get my flowhood done + a stainless steel table...probably should cover my carpet w/ something too.

GH + bulk humidifier set-up. I'll take a pick of the GH's in the room when i get home tonight & toss in 4 more PE6 tubs I got pinning in my colonization room...

Looks good to me bro

I got a number of cool projects coming up....

One of them is a secret that I'm sure you are gonna love!

It just came of the agar today and went into a spawn bag with its substrate.

I'll give you a small hint.... I'm rushing to catch the last of the winters cold in my basement to fruit them .....

TBC........

I own the vid and if you listen to what hes saying he had to carefully place his spawn away from the edges so it isnt drying out because of the vast amount of fae it gets during colonization.  precautionary measures were taken due to the way it is being colonized.  he states because of the air during colonization this had to be done to prevent contamination of exposed grains/straw while colonizing.

the straw basket is a bad example for your point.

As I said before, this is a strawman argument against what I cited as an example. You're going over exactly what I addressed in my prior post, so I'm not going to post it again. The drying out is a related but irrelevant topic at hand, as we weren't discussing drying of a substrate.

I'm very interested in your experiment, :scaryshroom:. I have no reason to think you would skew results, and I hope you have no reason to think I would either.

Hope your remodel helps with contamination issues. I don't know if I mentioned this, but a family friend recently had to replace BOTH main bathrooms, and a very large part of the floor/basement ceiling due to mold. It was quite literally making one of my friends - their son - physically ill from sleeping there. About 30 minutes - 1 hour after leaving to go to work and such, the symptoms would go away.

Hey, that reminds me - is there like a reliable device you can buy to gauge spore-count in your home? THAT would be money well-spent, to me at least. :awesomenod:

:whathesaid:

That had to be black mold &, in most instances where black mold is present, the EPA comes in & says the entire house has to be demolished.  Black mold lives in your walls & feeds on your drywall + studs. It's a PITA to get rid of & sux for health reasons. Shit gets into your lunges & fucks you, royally...asbetos shit styly-ee...

I had friends in college that lived in THE party house, directly across from campus, and, due to the amount of partying done there, we, as a general/collective/royal "we," caused black mold to appear.  The landlord had to completely demolish the house due to the infestation.

If that mod was in 4 rooms in the house, the house needs to be completely re-done...it sux, & is expensive, but the positives def. outway the negatives in the circumstance of mold.

I've def. noticed an increase in the spore count of my house since starting mycology. My house seems to get dusty quicker + my allergies are more activated during the "off" season of my standard allergies...

I didn't mean to sound condescending. I was just making my observations of what I saw in his tub.

I'm doing they're idea to the max right now with my first two monos. No bag and really loose polyfil.

I wish there was a way of "standardizing" polyfil tightness so we all knew what each other were talking about.

Oh, Base, I'd actually recommend stuffing the polyfil a bit tight during colonization, to avoid too much moisture loss, and so that you will have a decrease in CO2 when it comes time to fruit. If you've already made up your bin, it's no big deal - re-applying the polyfil will not do any harm. Feel free to open up your tubs and look at them as often as you want as well. So long as you used properly pasteurized substrate and healthy spawn, that's what matters. If not - well, then looking at the bins really isn't gonna change the problem, no is it?

I know it may be confusing, and I'm sorry about that guys.

My position, and ProfessorPinHead's position is:

1. Give what would be considered high ge/fae (...it really doesn't matter, seriously. That's the expert opinion, not mine.) during colonization, but have it relatively restricted when compared to:

2. Give MASSIVE fae during fruiting, by loosening up the polyfil as loose as it can possibly be (...or even remove a polyfil ball, like Prof does) and manually fanning 1-3 times daily, and/or have a fan circulating air in the fruiting environment constantly.

3. Bonus - allow ambient light exposure to the substrate the whole time to establish circadian rhythms early on, before fruiting begins, to have the mycelium be as happy as can be. :bliss:

Hope those three points of interest help to clear any confusion.

Lastly - these are neither my nor ProfessorPinHead's noble and/or novel ideas. We're merely passing on information that we've learned from the experts.

Links to definitions in bold, to maximize information exchange. :omgawesome:

I apologize if there were any confusion on my positions, and if I failed to adequately distinguish between experimental results from advice. If my advice is followed, I see only benefit becoming new growers who follow it, so long as they DO follow it.

They are already colonised. I'm not too worried about them drying out tbh. I live in a humid environment, and always leave a window open. I also have a fish tank  a few feet away from my grow area.

We'll see what happens though. I'm going to let them consolidate for 5 days or so and try to get some monster flushes out of them. By that time I should be making two more tubs up in addition to these. I just g2g'ed the jars the other day.

Prof P, I promised you some pics. I rescued these tubs from a bag 24-48 hours after spawning to bulk...had a slight smell of fermenting fruit when I took them out, but I think that was mostly due to the conatmed KSSS tubs in the room.

Whole set up then all 4 of the newly introduced to fruiting conditions tubs (MS PE6), the last one is of the top right tub close-up style, knots :datass:...
