minecraft is for noobs lol. video game wise, i mean its really not a game.

Asheron's Call - Old but still the best game if you wanna get ripped and explore. PC only. Just Cause 2 - Flying, guns, good graphics. Red Dead Redemption - Old west, awesome gameplay.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

Oh my goodness, a fellow AC head posting on the Shroomery, that's neat. Asheron's Call is my favorite game of all time - by a long shot - and I've been gaming since I was a pup. The word epic just falls short when trying to explain how great the game was when it came to just exploring a world. Nothing even comes close in my opinion.
What server did you play?

I used to love Pilot Wings for the N64, but it is just way too dated.
As much as I love fast action games, sometimes I just want to get super baked and explore a digital world fantasy world without the aim just to kill everything.
i'm going to agree with whoever mentioned Red Dead Redemption, cause that shit is awesome. gonna go play it in a few minutes.
just cause 2 looks pretty fun now that i look at it, too. i think im gonna go pick that up tomorrow.
this might not be your thing but this game (kinda lacking in the exploration i guess but something makes me want to recommend it).

heh. i saw they released it for the iPad. which is cool, but i don't have one. i wish they'd released it for the iPhone but i think i read that they aren't going to.

no one got involved in far cry 2 huh? I know it gets really repetitive, but it's soo fun to just explore for the first 2 or 3 days you have the game. THEN it gets EXTREMELY repetitive

holy shit that was the first MMO I ever played. I was 11 when I started playing that and I quickly became obsessed. Asherons Call is amazing, I guess people still play it but eh. I think the server I was on was Harvest-something.

Minecraft is for people who want to play something other than a generic FPS.
It's in a genre is it's own, I'm not sure how that translates to being for noobs exactly.

graphics/interface is pretty dated IMO compared to oblivion. if you REALLY enjoyed oblivion maybe the story/gameplay of morrwind alone would be good.

Yeah, the first Halo had a really wide-open feeling to it. It's weird because successive games have not captured that feeling, even though they have larger environments.

Game glitches are the shit.
In Metroid Prime 1 I used to get the double jump boots right at the beginning of the game so then you can get so much stuff out of order. Badass!!
Oh and I used to do this too:
