I'm curious how you ruled out section Semilanceatae, these mushrooms remind me of something between P. semilanceata and P. pelliculosa.

In the link, Inski mentions that, "This remains an undescribed species and is close to P. aztecorum with all macroscopic and microscopic characteristics agreeing with Dr Guzmáns Section Aztecorum." Other than that statement, there is nothing said on the matter. I could have sworn I saw a pic like this earlier by Inski where some scope pics were shown, so maybe if someone could dig that thread up, it might shed some light on this.
Regardless, that is one sexiful sporocarp, Inski.

This species belongs in Dr Guzmáns Section Aztecorum due to the asymmetric or mango shaped spores in side view, the presence of pleurocystidia which are not present in Section Semilanceatae, the extremely hygrophanous pileus drying to almost white and the sublignicolous habitat.
This combination of characteristics suggests that this species best fits into Section Aztecorum.

Ah yes, I remember these, thanks! Is the stipe flexuous? or was it somewhat brittle?

Man those pictures take me back to a place in South Auckland where I know I've picked these before. Under Hydrangeas too.

A couple more images. Thanks Alan, I'll probably be sending a few specimens to Jan, maybe I'll get some out to you when I send the P. subaeruginosa material.

An interesting and unique macroscopic characteristic is the enlarged and twisted stipe towards the apex.
Another interesting characteristic is the presence of two and four spored basidia, the spores from the two spored basidia are very large, up to 20µm long and are quite different in shape compared to the spores from the four spored basidia, they are very elongated and narrow, the shape is similar to the spores of P. caerulipes.

The term flexuous refers to the shape of the stipe, as in "is the stipe straight or does it have curves along it's length" whereas the term brittle refers to the texture, as in "does the stipe snap when bent like Psathyrella species do"
This species can have a straight to somewhat flexuous stipe and is cartilaginous and does not snap easily when manipulated.
This species is very close to Psilocybe baeocystis and P. aztecorum.
