My recently opened mono already has trich before the first flush!
    #14065588 - 03/04/11 10:42 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

FUCK!

I used coir, verm, coffee, gypsum as a substrate. The mycellium colonized it perfectly

My work area is squeaky clean.

WTF happened in your opinion...

(there only one little bit on the corner infected...I put some alcohol on it... not that its gonna prevent trich form taking over....)

Only reason i can think of off top is that there were already trich spores either in an ingredient of ur substrate, or it was already in the house, trich is viscious dude, it could look squeaky clean but ur air cond ducts could have trich in them, it happened to me, I had to clean out the whole intake and all the vents with fungicide.  Try starting again with more attention to sterilizing substrate and hope for the best and check ur air cond vents

that shouldn't be an issue if proper colonization techniques are used

true, once colonized it should be resistant enuf, i know, but on my first few grows i had a prob after about 2 flushes id get trich, then noticed it was all over the vents and on further exploration it was inside the ducts too

How can trich infect a 100% colonized jar of mycellium???

Also, the trich showed up like 5 days after I put the tub in fruiting condition. Is it a normal amount of time for trich to show up?

Or, it was just the coffee.

I used spent coffee.

Should PC it next time or just pasteurize it with the rest of the ingredients?

The nasty green stuff knows no limits in its destruction, and it can grow and expand pretty much over night.

I vote pasteurization/spawning technique is flawed.

Trich won't go from spores to sporulation in five days.  Your spawn was contaminated and you just didn't know.
