Give us an analogy for the war on drugs
    #13647322 - 12/17/10 01:53 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

There are problems with drugs, but making drugs illegal is like trying to put out a house fire by spraying gasoline on it.

Give us your analogy for the drug war.

everyone's crime is no crime at all
everyone's sin is no sin  ( Kensey )

banishment of actions which are both harmful and not harmful depending on a multitude of factors including intelligence and motives of the user is like banishing mcodnalds on account of very morbidly obese patrons that get 4 big macs a day , and diet coke,

marijuana is a gateway to becoming president of the USA : Barry O , yes i inhaled, often, isn't that th epoint ?
Bill : , i enjoy holding marijuana to my mouth, but that is as much as i use it , i don't enjoy the high, so i just hold it to my mouth to look cool, but i mean, that's fun , i also do that with ladies, in different ways , and not with marijuana, but there is holding things near mouths, you see, but that is not sexual relations or inhaling, but gosh if you guys weren't so damn judgmental i'd just say yes i did those things.

Bush W  : hidden tape " Yes I used it but I don't want people to say Daddy , the president used it ..... " ( was on the daily show a whil ago )

so our last 3 presidents got high . now imagine if they killed people and hopefully they didn't

something 50 % of a nation is regularly doing cannot be harmful for the nation, rather, the criminals are the ones in enforcement that do not have a conscience, many look the other way and don't mind.

the drug war is like shooting someone for sneezing to try to prevent the spread of disease.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ( those swirly lines are farrrr out mannn ! ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a drug is a tool, when it is abused the only harm is medical, no criminal harm results from drug use until it is prohbited by law, therefore , to issue criminal punishments over an addiction ONLY if one is addicted is retardifying, the issue is medical and medical only

many of the schedule I drugs are deemed by MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TO HAVE MEDICAL BENEFIT .

marijuana cures cancer, alcohol is known to cause it .

the constitution was written on hemp

forbidding someone to harm themselves is foolish and wrong, it is a waste of tax money , why not encourage pro social behaviors , fund public educatino

saying we can't afford to pay teachers more money but we can fund a drug war ,
results in :
drug dealers being , established, due to black market tendnecies, in EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL IN AMERICA, except maybe elementary schools ( people seemed to be selling coke in my middle school  [ MIDDLE SCHOOLERS SELLING IT ] )
so then yes it is HIGH school, a little bit too high isn't ?

dealers don't ask for ID

is this enough  ? the war is over now yay !

....I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow, to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human......
Om Namah Shivaya, I tell you What!

Is that quoting Alfred Kinsey (whom Benjamin Wiker argues to be merely writing a disguised autobiography with Sexual Behaviour in the Human Male) or Ken Kesey or someone else?

This argument that pot smokers are responsible for the violence in the war on drugs needs a good response. One analogy is: blaming drug users for the harm of the war on drugs is like blaming high food prices on the fact that people like to eat.

Anybody have any better analogies?

Blaming drug users for drug war violence is like blaming the sexually active for prostitution rinks that support human trafficking.

Explanation:
The only reason these occurrences (violence and human trafficking) become such big problems is because there is no legal, regulated alternative to divert funding away from the organized crime monopoly. These groups of organized criminals will do - pretty much - whatever they want regardless of the law so the best way to take away their power is to take away their customers.

That's a good one.

The war on drugs is like giving a frontal lobotamy to someone with Tourettes syndrome.

Government pretending to be god in the garden of Eden saying (and making sure) if you partake of the forbidden fruit you will die...

The drug war is like giving yourself Ebola to avoid a cold.
