small fruits and whats outdated/bad about a PMP. Qs from a newb

first of all, hi!, ive been reading around here for awhile now and decided it was time to make a post. unfortunately this post is just my newbie questions
first up: i did a grain tek with popcorn (my new jars have rye) and it colonised fully and i cased it in 50/50 peat/verm mix and put it into a standard SGFC. i mist and fanned it 4-5 times a day and within a few days i had pins and they grew more over the next few days but then they started opening their caps way too early while they were still small, so i ended up with a full flush of small shrooms what causes this? btw i live in australia (south australia) if thats relevant, humidity wise or something and strain is psilocybe cubensis mazatapec.
for size comparison, the holes on the FC are 2inch apart. oops wrong photo this is the day before the caps opened
and secondly, if ur still reading, what is so outdated or bad about PMP's from what ive read they seem like an easy way to have top humidity and enough fae.
all help/opinions is appreciated

Ive had really tiny shrooms open their caps before. Upon further inspection it turned out to be a contamination problem. Kinda like the myceliums last ditch effort to reproduce.

thanks heaps guys thats a worry off my shoulders since were on the topic of flushes, i dunked my casing in running water for a few hours like i read here. after draining, the casing was rather bruised and a few pins had been ruined. it all looks recovered now (5days later) so when will the new shrooms start coming through?
P.S this was my first harvest/consumption of shrooms, me and my mate ate them fresh and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life

Was kind of like a large pins with the cap open. Nothing like what the OP's pic shows. OP's shrooms look fine to me.

shouldnt really dunk with pins on. pins get damaged, rotting issues ensue. if you got no rotting and 5 days later its all good, pinning should start anytime soon. mist n fan n mist n fan etc. etc.mahalos

It looks like you are using a combination of the shotgun style fruiting chamber and the pmp. Following Magash's tek there are no holes in the sides and you don't have to spray or fan. That could be the problem, but I don't have that many grows under my built to give you a for sure answer, I have some cakes that are almost finished and I don't plan on having any holes in my pmp there should be enough humidity and air exchange

That's the normal size fruits for a tiny substrate like that. RR

thanks RR for the clarification.
Im using a STANDARD SGFC, i was just asking about the PMP because ive read so many threads saying they are outdated and to use a sgfc instead, so i was just wondering why?.
fyi it is my first little tiny casing, its roughly 1 quart of popcorn and then a 50/50 (peat/verm) casing layer that is 1/4 depth of the substrate. i have a few rye pints that are going to be cased soon, and a few i saved to do G2G so my next lot can be a bulk monotub or something
