BIrthing a swamp cake?
    #14061261 - 03/03/11 04:37 PM (13 years, 2 days ago)

Hey all,

I have a jar filled with substrate that's basically waterlogged. All you see on the sides in the soupy substrate. It was colonized by a friend that is a bit of a head and isn't so good at reading instructions.

I opened it up in a cleanbox and it has mycelium all over the top of it.

There's no way for the mycelium to migrate down due to it being so wet. So I'm guessing it's going to starve itself out sooner or later.

This jar has been sitting on top of the fridge for over a month at decent temps. 70+

Don't see any evidence of cobweb (or any other) mold which is kind of a surprise due to the moisture.

What should I do?

I was thinking about either treating it like a regular cake and washing it off then dunk roll or transferring it in a cleanbox to a larger jar so it has more surface area to cultivate on.

Thoughts?
