Sub-genres piss me right off. Sure it doesn't hurt to distinguish between punk, pop-punk, and hardcore if we're having a discussion about it. But when it comes down to it I like to keep things simple. Metal is probably the worst with sub-genres, but if it's in my library of music it's just going under "metal".

exactly
especially agree with the metal thing
the worst is when people within the same scene start thinkin their sub-genre is the best, and spit on anyone who listens to other bands within the 'root genre'
black metal (which i love anyway) is really bad for that... at least the scenesters are anyway.. i've never met such o' stuck up, self righteous bunch of people... seriously.... if you're not a die fucking hard black metal guy with war paint and nails stickin out every which way, you're an idiot... totally lame

Shows were crazy, i miss Cracktoberfest, just something about drinking hamms in line at the theater while yelling at 3 police officers arresting a tweaker that ran and jumped over two squad cars then pulled his pants down. Not really much of a punk sound any more but GWAR's always been a favorite too, Dave Brockie is just too funny. If you've got a facebook or myspace you should check out my old band Clackamas Baby Killers, funny stuff, the guys are dicks but that's part of the game right? haha

Yeah, SFH was a good show, but it wasn't as gritty as LOC. I was like the only person in the crowd giving them the finger as they went on stage.
I saw LOC play on September 11th one year. That was fucking NUTS.

I saw them in some dive bar in London, tiny little place with sweat dripping off the ceiling. Most internse band I've seen by a long shot.
Also as this is a punk thread, shout-out to the Dropkicks.

I already own every GG album there is.... he's prolly my all time fav punker, no matter how fucked up he might be.... listening to 'war in my head' repeatedly on acid makes for one HELL of a trip... brings you right down into the most terrifying parts of you psyche... also gives me really fucked up dreams when I listen to while falling asleep
I used to have a pic of GG in his casket in my sig, but people were a little disturbed by it so I took it off

^^ rest in piss gg
I'm lookin for some shit I've never heard of yet... I'm adding to my collection
REALLY diggin the 'dropdead'.... downloaded the whole discography, it's exactly the type of tunes I was lookin for... fast, crazy, in your face shit... can't understand a fucking word they're saying, but that's alright cuz it still makes me feel good
might have already posted it, but fuck it, here it is again... and this is one of their mellower songs, only one I could find on youtube

thanks again for all the replies guys!... if anyone has any other bands they'd like to add, I'd appreciate it...

This is more in the realm of metalcore/hardcore than punk but I felt like it had a kind of punk vibe
and well its hard, fast, and aggressive
