Long battery life WIFI device?
    #14053427 - 03/02/11 09:10 AM (13 years, 3 days ago)

I'm looking for something portable to go on the internet with in wifi spots when I'm travelling.  Problem is - won't be able to charge it that often.  I have seen some mini netbooks that are not expensive but the battery life is only 2 hours.

Are there any devices people can recommend with a longer battery life?

Also is charging by solar power a realistic option?  I will be somewhere sunny but would it be a matter of days to charge a device like this with a small solar panel or a matter of months :-P

solar power chargers are reeeaaally slow as far as i know, but if you don't have access to electricity then that's the only option i think. No device (if its not huge and heavy) wont hold a charge for long periods.

There are a lot of Apple haters out there, but the iPad gets around 10 hours of battery life on wifi.

Some Asus netbooks also get 10+ hours.  Personally, I can't stand typing on them so I make due with a laptop which gets about 6 hours after you buy the bigger batteries.

This. I love my iPad. I can go anywhere and never take a charger or expect my device to go down. iPad is truly a new category of devices that changed the entire desktop/PC metaphor.

If more computing power is needed than an iPad can give (which is a lot), then the Macbook Air is the next best way to go. It gets comparable battery life and standby time.
