Strange tingling feeling in the back of my head(brain)
    #14041594 - 02/28/11 12:19 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Hey guys, I wasn't sure whether this is the right place to post this but I'd figured o well considering from some recent experiences it has had some odd spirituality meanings(I think).

I remember the day it first happened to me, I was in kindergarten and my teacher Mrs. Thurman was teaching me how to write my name. My Teacher grabbed my pencil and wrote it out perfectly for me.

As I was in the process of watching her write my name, I received a very odd feeling in the back of my skull like a vibrating sort of feel, almost as if electricity was shocking my brain.  Although the way I described it, which is the best way for me to describe it, sounds painful. However, it's one of the greatest feelings in the world to me.

As I grew older, I remember countless times of this happening to me, whether I'm getting a haircut sometimes or watching someone do something for me, it happened a lot when my math teachers were correcting math problems or writing math problem examples 1on1 to me, or someone is concentrating very hard on me.  I also remember getting it a lot in high school when a girl would be staring at me in class, regardless if I found them attractive or not.  Surprisingly every time this happens I understand 100% what he/she is trying to teach me after I snap back into reality, sometimes it doesn't because I would just be so overwhelmed by the intensity and it's definitely not an orgasm.

Recently, I had another one, however this time I concentrated on it and  observed it to the best of my ability. As it was happening, I was controlling it and was making it last longer than it normal does, it usually lasts no longer than 2-3 seconds and this time I was making it last atleast 3x as longer.  I can't really figure how long it lasts because I'm pretty much in a different conscious state however I knew that it lasted longer than usual.

I notice almost the exact same feelings when I'm on shrooms.  Sometimes when I'm shrooms I'll go outside and just stare at some trees and nothing around me matters, time/reality/etc.  I'm sure everyone has had this feeling before.  Almost as if my brain stops working, but I'm drifting into consciousness.

Lately this has been the top of my mind and I figured this was the best place to come and try find some answers or if any of you guys have experienced this as well.

Wow
i've been experiencing the same thing and nobody knows how to explain it.
it happened to me just yesterday in a pet store.
i'm kinda afraid of birds , so i watched them and tried not to get scared when they flap their wings.
so i tried to keep looking at them without backing away or closing my eyes and this feeling came.

it also happened to me as i was speaking to this woman.
for some reason.. i decided to stare directly in her eyes.

i think it has something to do with the eyes and perhaps trying to be "overfocused" on something.
i play an fps game and sometimes i get the same feeling if the enemy is moving left and right and im really trying to get a headshot.

it don't find it pleasurable anymore.
it feels like my brain is overloading.
the vibrating feeling , for me , is more like a shaking.
like a blood vessel is about to pop in the back of my head or in my brain.

it also happens if i try not to smile even though i feel like doing it.

all in all , i believe we are experiencing the same thing.
what it really is..
no idea.

Haha! my god, I hate when that happens when I'm playing an FPS, it always screws me. Just like you.. sometimes it happens when I spot someone and it just totally knocks me out of consciousness and by the time I come back into it, i'm dead.

I could see what you mean about something trying to pop, I think atleast for me theres different strengths of them.  Sometimes they are really intense and than I close my eyes and I shake my head, and than some just feel amazing like ants crawling on the back of my brain.

Everytime my girlfriend touches the back of my neck and I get the shivers it sometimes makes it happen.

Hell the moment I opened back this thread and saw the first line Wow, I had a mild one just because Iv'e never really talked about this with someone before.

I doubt it has to do something with the eyes, but I could see it being with that.  The last time I controlled it I thought it was much more.  I felt like I was connected with the conciousness or I had that mind in space feeling while on shrooms, not really sure how to explain it!

If only theres an explanation!

Yea..
i get these too , even more often than the other ones.

Do you get twitches ?
In the past couple years i've been having these ridiculous twitches that can last up to a month.

I also sometimes fall into this very uncomfortable mode where everything around me seems a lot closer than it really is but at the same time the objects look smaller.
It feels like i can touch everything no matter how far away it is and its all a bit unrealistic.Almost like my awareness goes a tiny bit behind my eyes. Very very uncomfortable and it last for a few minutes and then it goes away.

Yea man I know the feeling. I love it. I can't remember the last time I had it, but it always would come for me when someone is reaching over my shoulder to help me with a problem. I remember getting it a lot when I was in elementary school. It's almost like feeling the energy of positive intent of someone trying to help you - or help you understand something.
:feelsgoodman:

I'm having trouble matching this same experience to your guys video game experiences though. Does my previous description match what you are referring to?

No, but I get it in the front of my brain. It generally happens when I'm high and I take a huuuuuuuuge hit off my glass pipe. I can feel it move up my toes and encompass my brain and finally just focus right in the middle of my forehead before it goes away (lasts about 10seconds to a minute on the forehead). I can only ever seem to do it once though, and then I can't really make it happen again until I come down.

I also feel a tingling in the center of my forehead and can use it to call upon what I call prana, although it has many names.

I think you are 1 step away from achieving awakening your third eye.

I suggest an exercize, if you want.

Focus on that tingling sensation and try to magnify it to the most vivid feeling you can.

After you get to this point, rather through meditation or another means, I implore you to focus on that feeling and attempt to bring it to the forefront of your mind.

These video/music/frequency/harmonics may help you in doing this.

No, but I do get these things were I HAVE TO move my head. Not really sure if it's a twitch but it's like a shiver...it could be a twitch haha. It rarely happens though.

Yep, that's exactly it! Every time someone reaches over me and shows me something (sometimes) it happens! I think it varies from different things on when it can happen for certain people.

Quote:

This is why I came here to ask this, because I had a feeling it had something to do with the third eye.  When I was describing it to my friend he was saying how it sounded exactly how when his trips intensify while on certain psychodelics.

Those youtube songs are amazing, time to do some experiments

What's crazy is the last time I can remember it happening, I focused on it and made it last longer and longer and I know for a fact that i was in a different consciousness. Unfortunately I haven't had one since.. then again I haven't had someone reach over my shoulder and teach me something as well.

Random question: When I close my eyes and wait a long time I can start to see the blackness disappear and a colored eye ball will appear.  It's not a detailed eyeball but rather than the shape of one. Could this be the third eye as well..?

What has happens after you awaken the third eye?

Yea I would honestly call it a headgasm, because that's what it feels like.. or a braingasm.  However, It has nothing to do with sexual in my opinion.

I get this feeling on mushrooms whenever I have a powerful epiphany... it's happened sober a few times as well but only in moments of extreme synchronicity.

Sounds like the 4th vipassana nana, also known as the knowledge of arising and passing.

Google search "Mastering the Core teachings of the Buddha"  read the book its a free pdf, or flip to the table of contents look in the 3rd section titled Insight stages.

If you're here on this forum discussing spirituality or have used psychedelics you've probably experienced this insight before.

What happens is that you become more intuned with the global conscious. You intuition becomes more solid, and you will find yourself knowing an answer wtihout knowing how you know it. Then when you look for a reason for that answer you will find it.

There are many benefits I think, some can only be experienced. I am at the point now where I am able to maintain both my brow chakra and heart chakra open at the same time.

It is really tricky, because you have to split your focus. I have yet to find my next step, and have just working on  masterying this. Maybe at one point I will be able to hold open 3 at a time.

The heart chakra once open, grants the feeling of endless love and bliss. When that coincides with the energy being channeled through your third eye, it is a truly amazing feeling.

Here is a good link that seems similar to how I have come to understand it.

http://www.reiki-for-holistic-health.com/kundaliniawakening.html

This picture show these points (chakras) that are the path. It seems the the kundalini can be coaxed into rising just through your will and focus.

http://www.newbrainnewworld.com/?Awakening_of_Kundalini

This is just one interpretation of many, you may very well develope your own rationale and technique.

You want to raise it through each point, and feel the energy coalesce to each point to know you are taking the right path.

I think by by-passing these points, which is equivalent to some of the things as the utter denial of self, is the wrong way, and does cause the feeling of lonliness, or despair.

I thought the A&P was seeing lights shoot out from your body? Kenneth folk describes it as
Quote:

This is the peak spiritual experience, often a completely life-changing event. While for some people it can be fairly subtle, often it involves unitive experiences, "God-union," "the white light," mystical visions, and sublime ecstasy. It signals the beginning of true spirituality, and while it is often mistaken for a culminating event, it is really the germination of the seed that will later come to fruition, first in the partial resolution that is First Path, and later in the final resolution that is arahatship.

I don't think this is the A&P they are experiencing.

When I get concentrated in meditation I sometimes experience a very very strong force in my head, usually around the dome / brain area, and sometimes in the jaw as well. It feels almost as if my head is splitting, or shifting into two heads. Its is very strong, but not unpleasant, in fact it feels quite amazing. The feeling lasts anywhere from two - ten minuets before fading. I feel its a sign of getting concentrated.

Not really the same as the tingling you experience, but I do seem to remember feeling that when I was younger. Who knows, strange stuff is afoot at the circle K.

i would say that is dormant energy awakening or stagnant energy breaking off from where it used to be blocked.

but i'm not a doctor and that opinion would most likely not be respected by a doctor

do you panic or resist whenever you get this tingling sensation?

it kinda just shoots up and down my spine real quick, dont really have time to respond or think about it. im hoping its because i just stopped taking an ssri that i have been on for the last month or so, and not something worse like a pinched nerve, or parkinsons, or something

Same with me, I haven't experienced it for decades but certainly did when I was younger, particularly when someone was explaining/demonstrating something to me.

Here are some related links, the sensation has a bunch of terms, the most common seems to be ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response)
