WBS for me. all day..
i used to use rye, but its not very easy to find out here.. but WBS, on the other hand, is fucking everywhere.. lol.. easy as hell to prep, plus I love how small the grain is compared to rye, as it gives me more inoculation points per jar than rye, which gives me a faster colonizing substrate..
i just like it.. lol

I have to strongly disagree.. I just checked on 9 jars not even 5 minutes ago.. no smell whatsoever.. nothing..
its like fish.. if it smells, then its not good.. lol.. not saying that it doesnt have somewhat of a smell, but its a very mild, almost nutty smell..
if your WBS smelled, then you were doing something wrong..

I like starting my LCs on Rye berries(quick colonization) and then grain transferring those to WBS to expand real quick for a cheap $10, instead of $$too much for R/B...
Plus, I like the added nutritional value of (R/B) + WBS, even if it's a 1:10 - 1:20 ratio after g2g... at least there is a little more variation

I use WBS no boil no simmer just soak in a 5 Gallon bucket for 24 hours and let drain simple and easy as fuck no reason to do anything else. I don't add any of the additives straight WBS spawned to straight COIR and i get loads of healthy potent fruits.
easy wbs preparation

giggity to that..
you only need to simmer grains if you are fruiting from them..
i STEEP them in boiling water, that is removed from the heat, and covered.. it essentially gives me the same results as the soak, with only a fraction of the time.. no simmering, but just soaked in water that was hot to start with.. gives them a lil boost..
either way, yeah.. i agree.. if you are using the WBS as spawn, then you do not need to simmer at all..

how long do you let your seed steep for..? I'm also using red milo and straight millet, do the times change for those? i'm experimenting with em right now as we speek.

anywhere from 6 hours to overnight.. there have been times where i was just too fucking exhausted after work, so I just left it covered overnight, rinsed very well, and drained..
really, as a rule of thumb, i let it steep in the hot water until the pot is pretty much cool to the touch.. i know some other people leave them for less time (30-60 minutes), but usually for me, its about 2-3 hours, then rinse and strain..

All you have to do is soak 24 hours then drain and PC KEEP IT SIMPLE. IF you keep things SIMPLE you will have massive success.
