Why do people like Oasis? (The band.)

http://music-mix.ew.com/2011/03/02/liam-gallagher-radiohead-beady-eye/
From the article above:
"The website Quietus has just published an interview with Gallagher in which he reveals his thoughts on the recent output of his fellow Brit rockers Radiohead—notably their single, “Lotus Flower”—although Thom Yorke fans may well question my use of the word “thoughts.”
“I heard that f—ing Radiohead record and I just go, ‘What?!’” Gallagher declared. “I like to think that what we do, we do f—-ing well. Them writing a song about a f—ing tree? Give me a f—-ing break! A thousand year old tree? Go f— yourself! You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?'"
I've heard their music on the radio a few times, and have always dismissed it as hollow and not anything special. When I read that article, I decided to look up an interview of them on youtube, and in the video the lead singer just acts like a pretentious douchebag.
Is he borderline retarded?

This.
What's the story was a good album. Noel(or is it Liam?) is a notorious dickhead.

I agree. Radiohead is miles ahead of Oasis. Their music sucks, he thinks he's John Lennon or something but his songs are lame and boring.

Fuck only knows.
I just couldn't take seriously
any band that hailed from Manchester
but deluded themselves into believing
they were born in Liverpool,
to be like the Beatles.
To the extent they actually called each other "our kid" wtf
As a side note they were discovered in King Tut`s in Glasgow,by accident,
by Alan McGee,who missed his train and went to King Tut`s to kill time.

Who is the biggest rockstar douchebag? Because I always thought that guy from Creed and Bono were neck and neck for biggest rockstar douche but now I'm thing Liam Gallagher has a good shot at it.

What has the singer from Creed done and what has Bono done? I don't know, not a big fan of their music overall, but they seem to be hated just because of their music.

I read something about him sitting on some steps here a few years ago. Someone spotted him,he noticed them looking at him and they walked on just to spite him
Na,he's arrogant and thick and all that but Bono is in a different league altogether imo.
Like I could imagine getting a laugh out of Liam, knowing what to expect out of him and just hear him talk bullshit but Bono...

Oh yea zak wilde is a total douche. I've never heard of kasabian but I'll take your word for it.
This one might rub some people the wrong way. It always seems to. But I just can't understand why anybody would want to listen to bush. That band sucks just as much as anything I've ever heard. And of course we all know the worst band in the world is nickleback, that is a fact.

I think if you're a child of the 90's (8-13 years old) Bush is a staple. They had a bunch of hits when I started listening to music so my ears/taste didn't really stand much of a chance.

Yeah, I understand. Whenever I tell somebody I don't like that band, they freak out kinda, its funny. I am definitely a child of the 90s and I never liked it. But I was a weird kid, when I was 12 I was listening to sgt peppers lonely hearts club band repeatedly, not anything new. I did get into new music a little later and there was a bad phase in there that I'd rather not talk or think about (hip hop) but bush was never my thing. I always was a big nirvana fan and bush sounded lame in comparison, I think that was a part of it.

I have a love-hate relationship with nirvana. I can't stand a lot of their songs. But others I feel are written so well. I love the simple almost pop song structure, he did that so well.
I'm pretty sure the song you're talking about was a cover
I think nirvana is all about simple melodic songs and I like that about them.
To me bush always sounded like a sort of nirvana imitator, but too-clean, too structured, and unimaginative songs and melodies, not to mention the guy's voice, which I really don't like. And not clean as in guitar sound. The production. It sounds over compressed and perfected and perfectly radio friendly. When it sounds edgy it sounds forced, it doesn't sound natural to me. I just don't dig it

Before I got into drugs and was just learning how to play guitar, I liked Oasis. All their songs are cake on acoustic. Honestly, it was more their third album that turned me off; it was just awful. Later, I read some of their interviews and stuff and I realized what dicks they are. Just like Coldplay. Fuck--I jumped on board for their first two albums, even though that song Clocks is kind of irritating. But by their third album, they sucked and the lead singer couldn't pull it off live at all.
And then I started in college and discovered The Verve and Radiohead. I haven't looked back since. Shit--I'm downloading Radiohead's new album right now.

Yeah coldplay is cool but when it comes down to it, they are just a Radiohead imitator with less versatility. I think they bit their whole sound off that radiohead song karma police. And then you go and listen to other radiohead songs and albums and they sound completely different! They are so versatile. Before I knew much of them, I'd hear two of their songs in a row, thinking they are two different bands. Radiohead are gods in my eyes, definitely one of the best new bands. Their new album is a trip, I listened to it the other day. I dont know exactly how I feel about it yet but it is definitely radiohead
I don't have much bad to say about incubus. I like the songs and the vibes but they aren't my favorite. They could ditch the scratching record sounds and put more thought into guitar tone and it would be ten times cooler, if you asked me.

Good thread about good music.
On Oasis, What's the Story (morning glory) is a great record. I never got into any of their other albums but that one was a definite winner. The line that Galleger made was that Oasis was "bigger" than the Beatles which wI always took as a tongue-in-cheek joke on when Lennon said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus Christ. Yeah, he comes across a bit abrasive in that TRL interview but you guys are totally overreacting. Are people really that easily offended these days? Oh, and his comments there about Radiohead...he comes accross either as joking or ignorant. I suspect the former.
Bush sucks. Nirvana was good shit while it lasted. Coldplay is not a Radiohead imitator. You can say they have been inspired but that's not the same thing.
Incubus never did shit for me.
Radiohead is definitely good shit.

To compare that with the TRL video though
Johnny Rotten is at least confident, Liam Gallagher tries the same way to be mighty and too cool and self absorbed but he comes across as awkward and trying too hard.

I know you didn't ask me but
I like tool. I didn't for a long time, I thought it all sounded monotonous and basically the same, sort of depressing. But lately I've come around and I can respect them for their musicianship. I still think some of their music gets a little redundant. But what they do they do well.

What are your feelings on Tool?
I listened to Lateralus (album) for the first time a week ago and I think they're pretty awesome.
lateralus i believe is their best album though aenima comes close.
as for the oasis singer, i think it's possible it was just for show unless he really believes he wrote the album in 3 minutes.

Tool also passes the good shit test no doubt. I haven't heard it all but I like Lateralus a lot but for me it all started with Aenema.
The really cool kids liked them earlier than that but I was never quite that cool.

You are right, though Johnny Rotten is and always has been an unbelievable asshole, he does have that degree of confidence that allows him to be entertaining at the same time. Gallagher doesn't really do that anywhere nearly as well. "Trying too hard" I don't know. I don't think he's putting on an act and I don't think he really cares. He's just a different person.
