A. Bitorquis in the works (pics)

Hello friends,
I am currently having a go at A. Bitorquis and ran into a situation.
I am a newb and am not familiarized with this species.
Given that there isn't much info or visual reference for the growth process of this species in the site, I am starting this thread as a means both to document with pictures and to discuss any problems I may encounter.
I hope that others familiar with the species can help me through this process.
So first off, I inoculated WBS with an A. Bitorquis culture from Sporeworks(thanks)
on 2/6/11. Nothing happened for the first week and a half, but then I started seeing some growth, though it was slow and gradual.
two day ago I noticed there was a different kind of growth in the mycelium, and I didn't know what to make of it:

The dense white ball only came about recently.

I'm hoping it is just healthy mycelium, but I did see in TMC (Figure 54, pg 52) that Heavy Growth, which looks similar to this, is undesirable.
If it is undesirable, how do I avoid it? If this is a sign of poor growth, should I start a new master jar?
What do you guys think?

Hm, looks healthy enough, but I'm not sure. I would suggest making a new master jar, but this time make it with 50/50 wbs/manure or compost. That really seems to help with growth. My jars were inoculated with the same culture and colonized very quickly!

Thanks a lot Tangich!
Q: Any suggestions as to expanding that culture? I've read that regular MEAgar is not preferred by this species.
What Agar recipe would be good?

I also heard that standard agar recipes may not work well. So I made a mixture with potato infusion, small amount of honey and tiny amount of wheat peptone (really like 0.3g). It colonized it very nicely. You can probably make your standard mixture, but with water substituted for something else. You can either soak some horse manure (and filter it out) in water you'll use, or you can boil a tbs of wheat(grain or bran) before adding agar and ME.
