I'm 99.875% sure Disney artists are as popular as they are because of the media support that Disney gives them. Not because the songs other people write for them are awesome or the autotune job on their voice is particularly good.

Its because kids like him. Kids dominate youtube, he was discovered on youtube, and kids love to obsess with a particular artist/genre to help them form an identity.
The same reason McDonalds is the most popular fast food restaurant - it caters to kids.

It's really that hard to understand why millions of little girls like him? Come on you can't be THAT naive. Before him it was the Jonas Brothers, before them it was Backstreet Boys, and Hanson, and etc. etc.
Read the youtube comment sections of videos.. the majority of that site is run by youth it's scary

Its not like you can refer to them as people, they aren't. They're given the script and the playbook by their masters far before any public appearances.. any semblance of self is wiped away.

He's like a consumer product with an excellent marketing and advertising campaign. Sort of like an ipod. They both suck but they are pushed so effectively on us that we don't notice.

Same reason Jonas Brothers got popular.. they were easy to sell and manipulate. I don't know if any of you remember an OLD ass thread I made l probably a year ago about how I knew them growing up.
Nick was the only one who had "talent" and he was already signed by Sony for a solo Christian record deal (their dad was the pastor of our church). With a little help from their connects they sold the idea of 3 brothers playing together and it worked. Last time I talked to Joe was many years ago right as they started to get picked up. They were complete sellouts and that's what you need to be for Disney to pick you up and control you.
Like I said this was a longggggg ass time ago and he wasn't the type at all to be in a boy band. It happens
ps. my sister dated the oldest one (Kevin) when they were in highschool

Of course, money changes people fast. Although they were doing Burger King commercials as kids long before that fiasco. Not to mention I thought it was a little weird that their dad, the pastor, would just up and move across the US from his church for money..

Dude's marketed at 12 year old girls (and, going by his closet, dressed to look like one as well). No-one of this forum demograpic is even expected to like him. On the other hand, kids have plenty of disposable cash and little in the way of discernment or taste. What matters is good marketing and exposure.
I'm pretty sure this argument has happened every five years since the invention of popular music, through one medium or another.

I never understood the pure hatred he gets from so many people, just because they have to see his face all the time. Then again I don't even see his face at all because I don't watch tv.
From what I've observed online, only the kids HIS age get super pissed about him. Probably because all the girls in their school are obsessed with him

I hear about him on the shroomery most of all. If you dont watch MTV or entertainment news, its easy to go weeks or longer without seeing or thinking of the latest kid stars.
