hahahaha WHAT?!?! thats a little overkill. all you gotta do is rinse in a colander with hot water, shake till it barely drips, and let it sit for 30 minutes and thats plenty.lol
might be overkill for some, but I can't count the amount of peoples threads that followed that TEK to a T and then PC'd just to find a pool of water at the bottom of the jars.....Better safe than sorry

I'm one of those people as well.
I fully agree with your recommendation. In fact, I actually lay out my grain on a window screen set on towels, with a box fan angled down at the grains, blowing on them for about an hour.
You want your grains dry to the touch. It's not about how you do it, or how long it takes.
There is no such thing as overkill if it has benefit and gets you where you wanna go.

Thanks for the advice, I did just this. However, the grain seemed a little wetter than normal even despite my extra efforts. It could have been caused by the pressure cooker. Either way, I'm thankful for the forewarning, otherwise they definitely would've been too wet. I figured the way they are now should be fine after doing some searches and reading other people's advice on the same subject, so I used my 10 ml Cambodian spore syringe and just inoculated 4 pint jars that are a little more than half-full of grain each. I'm really hoping all goes well!

The PC run will cause condensation for most any grain. Rye is the only one I didn't have condensation problems with.
I don't know if I mentioned this, but to combat this, I scoop 1TBSP of dry vermiculite into each jar, and don't shake it in until AFTER the PC run.
That way, the verm stays dry until you need it - to soak up the condensation.
I really need to make up a grain tek.

It is normal for them to look wet after you PC, you will be fine. When its almost cool, before inoculation, I like to give the jars a good shake to break up any clumped grains and to redistribute the moisture.....When you do this and have a tyvek filter on the top just make sure there isn't any grain that goes up the holes and gets trapped between the disc and the filter. Then I may be paranoid but I give the filter a VERY EASY rub with alcohol just to speed up its drying process incase it did get a little wet after the shake......and don't shake right after inoculating, wait until around 20% colonization....

FN: I agree, you really should make a thread about your experience with grain and what has worked best for you. I will be adding the dry vermiculite from now on. I actually thought about mixing some in, since I have a bag on-hand, but I decided to just follow a general WBS tek.
*Edit* IGS: Thanks for the advice! I also chose not to shake them until colonization has reached about 20-30%.

I haven't done much testing on this topic, but when I did do some side-by-side tests, I found that shaking immediately after colonization, AND again at 20-40% colonization resulted in the shortest timeframe to reach full colonization. It beat out the 'inoculate-and-wait' by about 3 days.

Ahh, good to know! Sounds like I'll be testing that theory in the future too.
