yeah man. i hear you.
CouchSurfing is a great way to get the vibe of a city.. you hang out with locals who can show you the cool places that youd never find in a guide book. nevermind the fact that your not spending any money on a hotel.
ive been hitting a bunch of CS events in my area lately.
i actually hit an Oscar party in NYC on sunday night.. i went without knowing anyone or having a place to stay. met a total stranger and was invited to stay at his place for the night.
such an amazing community.

Wow, I feel like I've hardly been anywhere compared to some of you. I'd like to travel more.
I'm not sure if I would like living in a big city or not. My only experience so far was not the best, though I can imagine it's more fun when you're not poor.
I like places on or near water. Especially places that are arty and/or have a cool nightlife, or something else interesting...
I'd like to move somewhere warmer. Cali does sound nice, but I've heard expensive.

I didn't say why they are so great. Chicago is mellow for a metropolitan city and it has a dope music scene. Prague is this city with buildings from 900 AD and you can get absinthe everywhere for cheap. There is a bridge there that is like 800 years old called Karlov Most. It is gothic and bad ass. Kiev is also cool but cold as fuck.

no way you know about arcata and chico
chico is where im moving too next year, sooo sick! fucking beautiful, always something to do, cheap weed, cheaper rent, awesome bars and party scene.
i have a friend with a house in arcata, right on the coast. that place is slow, but so fucking awesome. such great durgs, such amazing fucking wilderness, everyones so low key etc.
norcal ftw
Hell yea man...The whole area around Arcata is beautiful, I would love to live up on the north coast someday.
I know a few heads in Chico, I go up there to party every once in a great while, and Warehouse parties. Everyone I've met up there seems welcoming and chill. Fantastic drugs. Cheap living. People are "green" and eco-conscious. Everyone rides bikes. Lots of things to do outdoors in the general area....And like ya said, it's a really low key lifestyle up there, at least from what I've seen and gathered the times I've been up there...
You're moving up there eh'?...Chico is just a short drive up the valley from where I currently live. And there's a very slight chance I may be moving into the Sacramento area, which would put me even closer...

.
NO WAY BRO! yeah i live in LA right now but virtually my whole group of friends has/is living in chico, most go to butte community college. did you go to the labour day float? have you ever been to bearhole in bidwell park? chico is SOO sick! girl to guy ratio is best ive ever seen.
im not guna be up there for a little under a year, but i am defintitely gunna visit. Dude Arcata...
tripping in the redwoods, kicking it on the coast, no matter whos house you go to they always have dank ounces lying arond, nugs lying all over the house. few bongs in the living room, grow setup going.. ahh.
chico you dont need a car ++++
arcata you need a car

I absolutely love chico. Fuck the college gay drinking scene, but bidwell park-bearhole- floating down river is beautiful.

One city in the US I really like is San Diego. A lot of sex, drugs, nice beaches, things to do at night. Crappy place to work if you gotta fight the traffic. I like La Jolla, and also Hillcrest has a lot of interesting stuff, and there is a big gay district there if that is your thing. I miss going out and sitting at Torrey Pines and watching the gliders flying out over blacks beach.
The biggest problem with San Diego: Too expensive.
