That's not the manufacturer though, the link I posted is. That goofy Red Hill General Store has about a dozen domains pointing at their own site.

Wisconsin aluminum foundry no longer sells parts to the public (at least on the internet, maybe they do on the phone). Red hill general store is an official distributor of parts.

Slightly off-topic, and at the risk of sounding obtuse: is it possible to use AA Electric Sterilizers for sterilizing grain jars? I had to ask because on the Red Hill General Store site they state "Attention Buyers: These items are sterilizers, not canners. They are not suitable for use as canners."
I'm thinking of getting a model 25X Electric Sterilizer for grain jars, but want to ensure it will work before doing so as it's not a light purchase.
How many quart jars will the 25X hold?

Yes, they're perfect for grain sterilization, which isn't canning anyway, since there's holes in the lid with a filter. If you tried to can peaches or other food in a sterilizer, they would boil over and make a mess when it went to vacuum. RR

Yea but AA has it set up so it is just as cheap to go through their main distributor, i.e. RED BARN.
Its 740 directly through AA and 740 from the RED BARN sites.
The reason I know is because I own 2 of them and am about to own 4
I got my last 2 through RED BARN, but I'm going direct on these next 2

Not to be argumentative but where are you seeing Red Barn?

Thanks for all your quick responses and solutions to the problems I was having with my steroclaves, guys. I went ahead and disassembled the toggle switches to each of the units' lids and found the problem. Recently, I've been boiling grains in my sterilizers. A few kernels had made their way into the toggle valve tube during grain boiling sessions and had been forced through the tubes, all the way up and into the inside of the toggle switch itself during sterilization runs, clogging up the toggle valve and switch, hindering the toggle switch from functioning properly.
A thorough cleaning of the toggle valve and matting surfaces of both units were performed with 71% iso alcohol and a paper towel. I cut a wired coat hanger into a strip with my Klein brand Journeymans pliers and ran it through the entire length of the tubes to force out any grain kernels that were stuck in the tubes. Petroleum jelly was placed in between each units' seal before the units were operated. After the tune-up, both units are now holding their vacuums.

Tie the flex hose to the toggle valve up so the opening is near the lid if you're using it like a pressure cooker or boiling pot. I use steel tie wire for that purpose. Obviously you can't use the insert if you tie the hose up to the lid. RR

Thanks man. Yea, I'v been using my steroclaves as grain boilers because my stove broke down. I'v been having so much fun doing it all in my steroclaves (boiling and sterilizing grains, as well as, pasteurizing bulk substrate materials) that I freaked out a little bit on this one and have yet to get a replacement range.
When I get paid, I'mma go ahead and replace the toggle switches and pressure gauges on each unit. Get them both running like new again. Next, shell out the extra cash for a nice electric range so I can boil and sterilize 4 times the amount of grains, pasteurize that much more bulk substrate materials at a time, and play with my new model 941 All American PC that I scored for 50 bux.
Thanks for the tip RR. I only use the insert to house the grains when I boil them.

Whew. I would be freaked out if my AA died.

Smart-ass. How'd you do that?
Anyways, thanks for the link. Went to them and ordered a new pressure gauge, control valve, and top handle. Walked away spending 50 dollars to restore a would be, 579.00 dollar device, brand new. Needed to after the pressure gauge and control valve of one of the lids off and broke themselves. Went ahead and replaced the pressure gauge and control valve of the other lid for good measure.
