They are dried Amanita muscaria caps, fly agaric. They contain ibotenic acid and muscimol, but not psilocin or psilocybin. The high is very different, it's a deliriant.

OP, just search this site and erowid for fly agaric. You will find a ton of info, some of it contradictory. I found several of those mushrooms this winter but decided not to consume them because I am still learning about them and I knew that I didn't know enough, even after reading. Personally, I feel like I need to study much more about them before consuming.
But I also had tons of luck finding Ps. Cyans & Friscosas, so I had plenty of "magic" mushrooms to eat.

Yes, they are fly agarics, NOT psilocybin mushrooms. They will not make you "trip" in a similar way LSD does. They will make you feel drowsy, a bit like after drinking alcohol. Most people (including me) also experience some form of nausea after ingesting active Amanitas, ranging from feeling slightly unpleasant to projectile vomiting (me).

I may get flamed for this, but no matter how much you read about a certain subject, you still won't know a single thing about it until you actually do it. You may read every single word ever written about A. muscaria, every subjective experience and every chemical analysis, and what's it worth? Nothing. Just a bunch of theory and others' experiences. If you want to know about it, then find the balls and take a small dose. I'm not at all saing that you shouldn't read, ofcourse it's always best to familiarize yourself with the subject, but experience and knowledge are two completely different things.

Certainly won't get flamed by me, because it's entirely true. You can read books about mycology and taxonomy all your life, until you actually go out and hunt mushrooms you are nothing but a bloody n00b. Same goes for mushroom cultivation or any other subject. Theoretical knowledge is nothing without practical application of that knowledge.

I have 2 grams of them. Will they do anything? What if I mix them with another 2 grams of shrooms with psycibilin(sp)?

If all you're looking for is a trip, why not just eat the 2 grams of the psilocybin mushrooms then? I, as well as many others, don't find Amanitas particularly enjoyable.

@Kahuna - yes, I agree that book knowledge isn't the "be all, end all". And that is one of the reasons why I didn't eat any Flys even after finding a bunch. I would prefer to meet somebody that is more knowledgeable and has first hand experience and eat them with their guidance.
I had taken psilocybes in the past, so I knew what to expect. But Flys look to be a completely different ball of wax.

You'll feel very light effects at best.

@Closed Veil - Cool looking pics. So those are Amanita Muscaria var. Formosa? Where did you find these? Are they named Formosa because they were named in Taiwan (Formosa)? I go to Taiwan for work, maybe I should keep an eye out for them.
I live in the Bay Area and found some of the regular looking red ones with white spots.

That's funny. I lived in MN for 9 years and never thought about foraging for mushrooms. Too busy fishing, lol. I still own a house in St. Paul.
Glad to be back on the left coast. It's so much warmer here! But I will say that I love MN.

If I were you, I'd scarf both, but that's my take on it. I'd like to try A. muscaria and acid. Scratch that, do the A. muscaria on its own, so you get to know it. Others here would suggest using the cubes solo, as to not tarnish them with other things. A. muscaria usually comes with nausea, drunken feeling and random other things that can be fun or horrible. You can cut most of the horrible out by making a tea from dried specimens. My suggestion is about 5-10 grams dry for first time. Nausea usually comes, but not long and it can be quite intense. Take something for the nausea unless you got a strong stomach. I usually smoke some herb when I start to feel the come-up. Ginger mixed in the tea might work also...no idea. Good luck and I hope you put a trip report up in The Psychadelic experience. :mushroom:

In times recent I remember, Once I was a man, In my heart I had an ember, I'll relate the best I can but it was snuffed, one distant December. And yet here I stand, no flesh, no bones, no seed or semen, All that's left is this Demon.
