Help on monotub

I need help making a monotub I have a tub 16 1/2 x 11 1/2 x 9 3/4 , 3 pints of spawn on wbs, verm for bottom layer 50/50 mix for casing. How thick should each layer be? do i need to worry about means of humidifying at any point or will the casing be sufficient enough to keep above 90% for the fruiting faze? Thanks!

are you spawning to bulk or just placing grains and casing?
your 50/50 mix is it coir/verm or peat/verm

So you're planning to spawn to straight verm? I'm confused a bit.

Oh! Yeah, plain verm on the bottom is outdated. Spawn to coir+verm for better results. Fruits fine uncased, btw.

sup doc t.
so i too am planing my first bulk mono... a ? if i may. so if verm as bottom layer is outdated, and a casing is not needed, then your pretty much just putting you bull sub in the mono. how deep should one go with there bulk 4-6"?
Also: what about humidity, do you mist and fan as usual? after colonization of-course

im planning on spawning to manure, the bags im getting are coming pre sterilized so thats just less chance for me to fuck up, im curious as to what kind of ratio i should use for colonized grain : compost my bags are coming in lb increments, im not sure how much a quart of rye or compost weighs lol, monotubs keep there own humidity if you had gotten the moisture content right with everything else, looks to me like most people get through there grow without ever popping open the lid.

Noone has any specific ratios they wanna share? I was thinking 1 part spawn and 5 parts substrate?

i like a high ratio, like 1:2 or 1:3. it colonizes faster and seems to me to produce better yields with a basic coir/verm recipe.

things couldnt be too different with manure, im gonna try a few bins i suppose, 1;3,1;4, and 1;5, and see how it works for me, What do you think of the "faht makes a bulk tub tek', he layers his tubs. I dont know if i should layer or just mix all together.

i layered, then i mixed for a while, then went back to layering. the important thing is it be evenly mixed. if there are spots with little or no spawn it will not colonize evenly. when i layer it, i can better see that the layers are evenly covered. i havent read the tek i dont think, but faht knows what hes doing. check out his late casing tek, i do it with every tray/tub and its the diggity-daggly.

Yeah i checked into that a while back, isnt it just basically adding a casing right before you see pins start to grow, and patching if necessarry? would my manaure compost be suitable for this, i was really planning on no casing at all initially, what do you think? Im getting pre sterilized manure and im thinking theres gypsum and vermiculite in the mix, a pre made compost,
you should check out that tek, not that you need it or anything, but it pretty much inspired me, lol,

this is kinda where your im coming from, however the bit on the press and seal probably isnt something im gonna go with. Seems like contams could enter through that way.

Im just casing my wbs, my casing material is peat, perlite, and dolomite lime, i also added a little verm as i didn't think there was enough perlite to retain moisture.

So...it does need casing!
