Only judging on cities I've actually gotten a chance to live in, Kathmandu is my current champion

It's got some problems, but the charm far outshines any possible negative aspects. You can get lost and find a new corner of the city every day, take a wrong turn and end up at an incredible temple or shop in an out of the way alley. The people are some of the friendliest city folk I've yet to meet. The food is amazing, and it seems that every Nepali is an expert baker. The culture is thriving, whether you be a local or an expat. Amazing talent found in the form of travelling artists and musicians. Amazing hash, found in the form of Nepali charas or compressed kif. Heck, there is even a heady psytrance scene. And I've only scratched the surface of why Kathmandu will always hold a part of me.

SF's more to visit. Arcata CA or Chico are awesome fucking college towns

I actually agree 100%...

I don't think I would ever live in SF, maybe somewhere in the bay area for a short while....I love the feeling of the city, and there's always something to do 24/7, but in all reality with the cost of living there and what not I just won't do it.

But the Arcata area is most definitely a place I'm looking to settle down in, Chico is legit as well :yesnod:  . I love how (relatively) desolate the northern part of the state is...

Lived in LA most of my life and feel like it's killing me -- the traffic, the sprawl, shitty public transportation, etc.

Of course it has its good points, but I just find most of the surroundings so displeasing visually, aside from being somewhere in nature, actually being in the city or suburbs -- the buildings (I'm not gonna even call it architecture) are so unappealing. I find places in underdeveloped countries more interesting to look at.

I'm trying to figure out a good place to relocate to, that isn't outrageously expensive, has a good energy, don't need a car, just awesome in general.

Ideally, I'd love to move abroad but I know it's so damn difficult to get a working visa in a lot of countries.

Hell yea man...The whole area around Arcata is beautiful, I would love to live up on the north coast someday.

I know a few heads in Chico, I go up there to party every once in a great while, and Warehouse parties. Everyone I've met up there seems welcoming and chill. Fantastic drugs. Cheap living. People are "green" and eco-conscious. Everyone rides bikes. Lots of things to do outdoors in the general area....And like ya said, it's a really low key lifestyle up there, at least from what I've seen and gathered the times I've been up there...

You're moving up there eh'?...Chico is just a short drive up the valley from where I currently live. And there's a very slight chance I may be moving into the Sacramento area, which would put me even closer...

Vancouver, Canada. chill city, great vibes and beautiful women. plus, the RCMP doesn't treat the citizenry like shit.

"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

I would say Granada, Spain.  Great for so many reasons.  Women, drugs, social atmosphere, youth culture, food, sights, cultural stuff, history, etc etc.

Water is beginning to become a major concern though.  When I was there many of their rivers were drying up.  Canals in the city were damn near bone dry, I mean you could basically use them as skateboarding half-pipes there was so little water in there.

The same is true in many desert regions.  I *will* be going back there to live for a few months sometime in the near future.

NYC has amazing energy but too many hipsters. Toronto is cool as fuuuck but Canada is eh. Chicago is so unique and has an old school feel but, I need the ocean. LA/ LoOoOong Beach is where its at. I love this dirty sprawl. Nobody gives a fuck, we have anything and everything here.

I dont typically like cities.
Chicago has it's perks, as does Indianapolis. San Francisco and Denver have their perks but I would never want to live in either...ive been to both for a few weeks at a time and got fucked with by cops...in Chicago and Indy I can be there for months and not get fucked with by cops. I really like Las Vegas. I loved Rome.

I love Eugene, Oregon but I think it's too small to qualify as a city.

Many of the cities i think id actually like I havent been to yet (Dubai, Tokyo, Zurich, Amsterdam, Venice, Milan, Vancouver, Victoria, Basel, Geneva, Kathmandu, etc).

I loathed London, NYC and Mexico City.

Im really more of a town guy than a city guy.

Geneva and Basel are very nice cities.. very slow paced and laid back.

i would NEVER want to live in Amsterdam. you remember that one house at college? the one where it wouldnt be that weird to pull up and see a couch on fire in the front yard? thats what Amsterdam is like.. fun to visit occasionally but long term youd rather kill yourself.

on the plus side, you dont have to learn another language. haha

Milan kinda sucks.. its just a shopping town. there really isnt anything going on.

Venice is like living in Disneyland.

and you definitely could not handle Tokyo if London, NYC, and Mexico City were too much.

Yup, Denver FTW, but I also classify the metro area part of denver, so arvada, westminster, thornton, littleton, golden, fuck aurora, and then you have BOULDER!!

EDIT: golden has the Coors brewery, Morrison has Red Rocks, Boulder has celestial seasonings and silly amounts of drugs fuckin colorado is where it's at!

I don't really like the idea of living in a big city. I enjoy visiting them though. My fav's to visit that I've been to were Tokyo and San Fran.
