Is it too soon to plant?

Things sure are warming up here in the south east. The cherry blossoms are coming out, new shoots are coming out on all the trees... Was that it for winter? I even saw some old farmers plowing up there fields today.

Look up the 'average last frost date' for your region, check out the 10 day forecast, and talk to a gardener with an abnormally large veggie patch.

It also depends on what your planting- big difference between tomatoes and kale.

lol, in most locations you can have the more vigorous of those outdoors at any time. I left walking onions planted in my garden straight through winter with no protection and theyre still green and going, 7 below 0°F be damned!

I've heard it said some extra hardy veggies like kale can have their seed planted early and survive a few frosts or minor freezes as seedlings but the particular microclimate can dictate that, as well as gardener technique... hence talking to a local gardener thats seemingly competent and not planting store bought squash plants.
