Trace mineral compound for soft water
    #14048153 - 03/01/11 09:02 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

So through my research on here iv come to understand that soft water is actually not as good for mushroom as hard water. That fact aside I cannot see how this horrible cancer causing chlorine ridden dirty shity city tap water I have is the best for our little fungi friends, however i very well could be wrong.

My friend just turned me onto a product called trace mineral compound, which is great for me as i have a soft water system, and was wondering if it may be great for mushy's too.I know mushrooms like calcium but what other minerals does it like? Heres a list of all the trace minerals it contains and a link to the product.

Ionic Sea Minerals. Contains no other added ingredients. In addition to the elements listed above, this product contains the following in naturally occurring, varying trace amounts: Calcium, Carbonate, Bromide, Iodine, Rubidium, Scandium, Boron, Phosphorus, Nickel, Manganese, Chromium, Strontium, Cobalt, Zinc, Titanium, Lanthanum, Cerium, Barium, Copper, Iron, Silicon, Yttrium, Molybdenum, Tin, Gallium, Gold, Silver, Cesium, Beryllium, Selenium, Vanadium, Dysprosium, Holmium, Terbium, Praseodymium, Lutetium, Gadolinium, Samarium, Bismuth, Ytterbium, Erbium, Europium, Neodymium. Plus the other minerals found in seawater.

Would there be any beneficial or possibly harmful effect to adding the trace mineral compound to soft water prior to hydrating casings, bulk subs, PF Cakes, boiling rye and other grain preparations or even L.C.'s?

I didn't get past the 250mg Magnesium, which is about as toxic to fungi as salty so-called soft water.  Use an outdoor faucet that isn't 'softened'.  Besides, the minerals in water are important for our health and the health of our fungi friends.  The chlorine in water has undoubtedly saved all of us from many horrible cases of the shits.  Use tap water for growing mushrooms.  If you don't like tap water, use a river, creek, lake, etc.
