Keeping cakes "watered"
    #1404856 - 03/24/03 05:24 AM (15 years, 2 months ago)

My friend has a couple PF cakes he wants to make sure remain hydrated. They weren't dunked after birth. He was adding water to the double-ended vermiculite casing layers, but now those layers are grown through with mycellium and they have pins all over them. How should he keep them watered now? The cakes are absolutely covered in pins and he doesn't want to lose them because of lack of water.

Wet some verm and rest the cake on top of it.

or

wait after the flush, and dunk it to re-hydrate.

The cake has already had the double-ended casing tek applied to it and the vermiculite has been pretty well grown through with mycellium. Should more wet vermiculite be put underneath the grown-through vermiculite already under there?

After the flush dunk  the cake, it is going to grow into the verm every flush.
