Black and Orange spots in grain jars

So I have about 19 quart jars inoculated. 10 being B+ and the other 9 being GT. The B+ jars showed the first signs of mycelium growth this morning when I checked them. 3 of the 10 jars were growing rapidly, but when I checked the bottom of the jars I noticed some very small black spots and some of these black spots had traces of orange around them. I dont know if this is a common thing or not. I dont have photos to upload atm. . . But any input would be appreciated.

May be a contaminate, may not be. A picture really is worth a thousand words in this case.

i see the spots you're talking about, but i dont see that as being a contam, yet...give them few days and keep check, if they dont change you should be fine...

Hard to tell even from the picture...
How well did you rinse your grain? Perhaps it is sediment/dirt/grim from the bag of grain?
Best way to tell is keep an eye on it and if those black and orange sports start to grow or multiply, its most likely contaminated.

I just thought that it was strange that out of the 19 jars I have knocked up that the 3 growing myc all have this same deal going on at the bottom of the jars.

I rinsed the grain multiple times in to the point that the standing water in the pot was mostly transparent. I then let the grain soak in water/gypsum for 16 hours, boiled for 10 minutes, strained it and let it air dry and loaded my jars

I guess time will tell.
What was your method of inoculation, and what mycelium is growing on the grain? What is your jar lid design like? Polyfil, tyvek, filter discs etc?

Well i PCed the jars for 90 minutes, each jar has a synthetic filter disc on the topside of the lid. I drilled out 3 small holes for FAE and 1 larger one in the middle to make it easier to stick a syringe through. All that have shown signs of growth have been B+ the GTs are lagging behind

The B+ I have are doing great while the GT's are slow as dirt. I don't know why but the GT's are barely showing signs of propagation and were knocked up on 2/19. They all are showing signs of growth but I have PE and ATL#7 that are 3 days old that are showing the same growth as the 10 day old GT's. Go figure.
