Why Jesus? He's spawned millions of asshole Christians.

Buddha > Jesus.

It's not his fault people misinterpreted his message.  Jesus spoke out forcefully against the fundamentalists of his day, the Pharisees.

Agreed. If Jesus had been a real person, I'd put him on the list of favorite historical people, but I'm not so sure about his real life existence...

No Jerry?  That surprises me.  I like the underdogs: Isaac Newton, Johannes Kepler, Vincent VanGogh.  Although my probably the most intriguing person in history for me is Leonard Euler.

MLK is a great pick.  It's so inspiring to me how much shit he went through throughout his life just to see the world change for the better.  His house was burned down, people threw rocks at him and even his life was taken from him.
Very good choice.  I'd have to agree.  But there are many others I look up to.

If MLK Jr. is my first favorite person, my second has to be a tie between Hunter S. Thompson, Osho, Dostoyevsky, Philip K. Dick, Albert Hofmann, George Orwell, Kenneth Patchen, Ray Kurzweil, Peter Joseph, Jacque Fresco, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kurt Vonnegut, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Thomas Jefferson, Jimmy Carter, JFK, Douglas Rushkoff, and of course Bugs Bunny.

newton's mechanistic view of the universe was the conceptual framework and philosophical foundation that led to western imperialism and the technological raping of the earth

Einstien was a way cooler physicist, and one of my favorite figures from history (along with Jerry)

Thomas Jefferson probably, because of his politics.

I like the main guys of science and the renaissance men too, such as Leonardo DaVinci, Buckminster Fuller, etc.

Christopher Hitchens is pretty cool too.
