Best/easiest way to rehydrate a monotub?

I recently used Damion5050's coir tek, and the first flush produced some nice, fat fruits. The second flush was plentiful, but the fruits were skinnier. I figured it was time to rehydrate, and I've never done it before so I gave it a shot.
I let it soak for about 24 hours i removed the polyfil from the holes in one side of the tub and tilted it over the sink to drain. Well, my cake started moving with the water so I had to try and hold it back with one hand. It didn't work well. To get pretty much all of the water out I had to tilt it on it's side and the cake broke in half. I managed to get the water out, and the cake back in place.
Will the cake grow back together? And are there any easier ways to rehydrate? I was thinking about next time just drilling a couple small holes on one side of the tub when the cake is elevated by the water, then covering the holes with duct tape when it's drained. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i take out all my polyfill when i put to fruiting stages
no need to filter any air at that point
my monotubs have 6 holes on each long side and 4 holes on the short sides
i duct tape all the holes that are closer to the bottom
i duct tape the bottom most holes from the INSIDE of the tub
then i place the tub under a faucet in my bath
place a water filled bucket or heavy weight on top of the substrate and then turn on the water
the water will fill up the tub and the cake will be sitting submerged underneath
the water will slowly trickle out of the top holes of the tub
when im done dunking
i remove the duct tape from the bottom holes and the water will start to empty
then i remove whatever weight i used and i tip the tub over slightly while holding on to the cake to make sure it doesnt crack
i get most of the water out this way and then i wait about 15-20 minutes then i tip it again to get the remaining water out
normally more water will pour out
then i put the tub back but leave the lid off and let it air dry for a few hours before getting it back into my routine
the key is holding onto the cake while tipping it over to get the water out
