Innoculating w/ Micropore Tape Question

After searchin around the forums i was wondering if someone with experience could clarify.
So pf tek calls for 4 1/8" holes on top of the jar rubber side up. Then micro pore tape over the jar holes-> sterilize for 90 mins> then let sit for about 4-8 hours.
My question is when inoculating you remove the tin foil jar top and inject THROUGH the micro pore tape into the inoculation holes.
Since the tape now has a hole in it should it be removed and a new layer put on or are the jars ready to be stored for 3-4 weeks
Sorry if this has been asked i just havent found an exact answer directed towards those interested in PF tek

it doesnt really matter, the tape is there to keep the water out during sterilization, given that you are using pf tek to the T. Your dry verm layer is your so-to-speak air filter from inoculation on. The holes need to be open for proper GE.

i thought that was the purpose of the tin foil.
it was my understanding that the tape is for GE ( since its porous) but also an extra layer of protection(along with the 1/2 layer of verm)

After inoculating, the Micopore tape isn't needed anymore.

sometimes condensation forms under the foil so the tape is sort of a back up. i personally use masking tape, and just loosen the lids to let out pressure, then after inoc i tighten lids since there are now holes. I think the micropore tape is to let out the pressure built up inside the jars during PC/boiling, and im sure it has some water blocking abilities... But idk, thats why i use masking tape. I dont really think it is something i would put a lot of thought into... my 2 cents

NO need to remove the tape, shoot through it. Covering afterwards with micropore is optional. I do it, lots of people don't.
