Do you believe this is what happened, or something else entirely?

Do you believe this is what happened?
Or do you believe something else entirely?

I agree with the theory that the mechanism of evolution is responsible for the amazing diversity of creatures that exist on this planet. However, I can't rule out the possibility that some higher, possibly intelligent power set up the laws of the universe/nature/physics to make life possible under certain conditions.

But a well built fire will be much more self-sustaining than a poorly built one, and they all need love to grow. And don't fuck around or your might burn yourself. Must always respect the fire. - Shroomism

Evolution, though sometimes I feel it's a product of some underlying reality that we can't yet comprehend.

Here is how everything started.
Somewhere in the depths of hydrothermal vents carbon monoxide and hydrogen reacted to form simple unbranched or isoprenoid amphipathic hydrocarbons. The reaction occured because of the high pressure and temperature as well as the catalytic activity of the mineral surface that is covering the hydrothermal vent from the inside.
Every once in a while the vent would errupt and spread many many tiny droplets each carrying a small fraction of the abovementioned organic molecules. As the drops fly around the vent the water in them gradually evaporated leaving a tiny micelle that would drop in a near by puddle. The tiny micelle would make out with other tiny micelles eventually coalescing into a bilayer that closes upon itself due to the favourable increasy in entropy (i.e. less clathrates on the bilayer edge)
And thats how the primitive membrane was formed. It had many intriguing properties such as its ability to permit certain molecules including aminoacids and nucleotides. Now at first the nucleotides were the really important ones as they could easily polymerise in random polynucleic acids.
Eventually, by chance, a polynucleic acid formed that could catalyse the replication (i.e. sequence dependent addition of nucleotides) of itself and other PNAs. And it happened that this polymer was alone in its bubble so it catalysed its own replication. Soon the bubble split in two and then some more and thats how primitive cells came about. It was the RNA that started everything, proteins came latter as accessory polymers but soon displaced lots of RNAs catalytic ability.
Just think about what catalyses the formation of peptide bonds in modern organisms. Think about why so many cofactors contain nucleotide bits in their structure.

Option 3. Any other way leaves to many questions that have no answers or further options to me.

Divine intervention doesn't rule out evolution and evolution doesn't rule out divine intervention.
I don't get why everybody has to have such a black and white perspective.
