Big storm in NE Ohio, flooded basement, need to vent

So a massive thunderstorm hit NE Ohio last night. Just woke up about an hour ago and went to go check on some jars I inoculated last night, and well, my basement is under 6 inches of water. Sub pumps are on but are not pumping out any water; I'm guessing there's no room for the water to be pumped to. All my mycology and ethnobotonical things are kept in the basement. With a quick tally in my head I just lost a ton of vermiculite, coco coir, possibly some spawn and LED light panels. Just got some power tools this past Christmas: brand new drill, circular saw, sawza, shop vac, and yup those are all under water. Man this sucks, but I'm trying to look on the brightside and hopefully something good comes out of this. Well I'm off now to remove the water bucket by bucket and contact the insurance company.
At least this pic brings a smile to my face.

awww that is sadd! homeowning has its [major] downfalls but plumbing and water are the worst! and to lose your cultivation and botonical's would really top it off

I think we are getting that storm OP was talkin about here in Upstate NY, and well.. when the snow melts even a little, the basement seems to leak in the water... should be fun.

we're about to get hit with the remnants of that storm. sorry to hear about the flooding and all that stuff underwater

"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

We got a load of rain in NE Indiana. I learned my lesson a few years ago. Anything in the basement is at least a foot off the ground.

Most of my stuff was on tables: mason jars, refrigerator w/ syringes and prints, etc. My basement is pretty much unfinished so most stuff just sits on the floor, especially big bags of vermiculite and coir. Funny thing is a couple weeks ago I started a project to redo the basement. I wanted to build rooms so I can have separate rooms for botany stuff and mycology stuff. All the existing shelves that were there I tore down so I could put drywall up to create rooms. Gotta love sweet irony.

that fucking BLOWS man! i feel you tho.. my parents house flooded when i was a kid and my whole house had 18 inches of water FLOWING through it.. our garage.. project cars.. everything was wiped out.. we went into the garage and my dog was floating around on a giant piece of styrofoam barking and shit.. theres nothing you can do to avoid it sometimes... sucks... id post pics but there not digital and i dont got a scanner.. but we had to completely rip the house apart to the bare skeleton and replace all the insulation and drywall.. as soon as the water is gone your gonna need to rip out that carpet as fast as you can to prevent the mold and smell.. but in the basement youll probably need to pump it.. fuck thats a bummer... sorry bro i feel your pain.. i send good vibes your way..

I'm from the same area. That was a pretty nasty storm the other day. It just popped up out of nowhere. That sucks about your stuff man. Could be worse. We had a couple basement walls collapse into the house a few years back from the rainstorms... It's very surreal to walk into your basement, and see that it's full of dirt and plants, and there are little animals scurrying around.
Ohio weather blows.

Yea at first I was real pissed but then just started laughing about it. Such is life. Weird thing is when that storm hit, I was real and kept seeing the flash of lightning. I was so confused cuz the thunder didn't come for another minute or so. Didn't even realize it was gonna storm. Woke up a couple hours later with the window wide open and it pouring rain. I musta been listening for the storm before I passed out.
