Lol, you think those are hard drugs?
You think they aren't? 1 night of too much alcohol can kill you no problem.

A couple hours of drinking a lot of water can kill you as well. Is it a hard drug?

Drugs can be good and they can be bad, just because something warns of the bad side of drugs, does not mean it is wrong in doing so. Sometimes I feel that the shroomery community is in some sort of denial of how dangerous drugs can be. I don't think education is bad as long as it is objective and accurate. These photos are obviously objective examples of some of the dangers that go along with certain drugs.
I don't disagree that the drugs are dangerous, I disagree with the methods being used here.

I completely understand your point, these people are being shown against their will in a time of disgrace, and there are many outside factors which contributed to their condition. I think it would be a lot better if this kind of study was done with volunteers, and that we didn't have such a messed up legal system. I lost site of this. However, I can still objectively see these photographs as powerful evidence of just how dangerous the system and drugs can be.

I only really take it as evidence that society's victims are being paraded about in front of our eyes, much like how back in the day you would take your kid to see the weekly village hanging. We're supposed to be better than this, and to be perfectly honest I can't imagine how projects like these actually help anyone. Scaring kids straight works for while they're still kids, but then they grow up into ignorant adults.

I just think at a certain point, people can't always blame society for the problems in their lives. I don't believe in "scaring kids straight", I believe in objective facts, which is why I suggested a professional study with volunteers. I guess I can agree that what was done here was wrong, but I can see positive potential for humanely collected data on the effects which drugs have on the human body and appearance.

Alcohol and tobacco are proven to be physically addictive in addition to their negative effects on health. This is how we define a "hard drug."
And don't try to tell me we're all addicted to water

I'd classify tobacco and alcohol as hard drugs. They're both highly addictive and extremely toxic at high doses; what more do you need to be called a hard drug?

Lots of things can be addictive and destructive, depending on personality. I know people addicted to weed mentally, and I know people who can do meth or heroin and not be addicted.

Sure, but let's talk general tendencies rather than the exceptions to the rule. Most people would have a hard time stepping away from hard drugs like meth or heroin if they consistently use them on a regular basis. Same goes for tobacco and alcohol.

Lol, you think those are hard drugs?
I'm not only thinking, i know it is.
Highly addictive,i used coke, amphetemines in my younger years for years and could stop with not many problems. The alcohol i also used daily, but it costed me 3 years to take control over it. Even till the day of today i must be very carefull to not get addicted on alcohol again,i think i must live with that fact my whole further life. It took me 3 years to learn to only drink in the weekends. For this i needed proffesional help, cause i could not do it on my own like the amphetemines and the coke i used for years.
The same with tabocca,i can't stop smoke it even if i want it.
Alcohol and tabacco cost worldwide 5 million lifes a year, this is pure hard drugs believe me,i faced it.
I also see it by some of my friends how they are addicted on alcohol but they even dont realize it. Alcohol gives a rush where the thoughts of being an alcoholic are 100% gone, you dont realize. At the time you realize you have an alcohol problem you are far,far wasted.... Then it's to late and it take years to control it, i dont know any other drugs what is more addictive then alcohol and tabacco and believe me i used many drugs in the couple of years. (I dont have experience on heroin since that always made me sick fortunally the 5 times i used it in my life)
I also want to warn people ,be carefull with alcohol.

Well not for me I guess. I tried smoking tobacco for a month, it was boring and lame and not addicting. And alcohol is fun to drink, but I dont need it. Even done heroin a couple times and smoked crack once and I am still fine.
Lucky me I guess

By what rationale would *you* consider alcohol and tobacco hard or soft drugs? Both are more physically detrimental and have a lower LD-50 (lower means more dangerous) than heroin/opium/morphine or cocaine.

This thing says that alcohol and tobacco are more addictive than amphetamine and almost as addictive as cocaine. I'm not sure what more you could want.
If amphetamine can't be considered a "hard drug," well then I feel like I don't understand English anymore.
It also makes me feel a bit better about my recent methylphenidate abuses.

How is heroin the most physically harmful according to that chart?

TBH I've always had issues with this chart myself. I'd like to see what kind of studies have gone into this. Just a hunch but I think it's probably very Eurocentric, and the harm of heroin has to do with adulterants, unpredictable dosage, and needles.
Khat is one of the lowest on the chart, for example, and yet Yemen is bankrupting itself with its out-of-control khat addiction.

just for that dude who thinks booze isn't a hard drug.
Also smoking kills you (over time of course), yet millions of people live with that cognitive dissonance. You'd think a soft drug wouldn't have people buying a substance that makes them feel like absolute dog shit (aside from the release from the chemical dependence, which makes them feel normal), and gives them emphysema/lung cancer/no endurance.
