using yeast infected spawn?
    #14038330 - 02/27/11 08:26 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

i have this one wbs jar thats infected with yeast..  it looks like it was sprinkled with salt..  the mycelium looks pretty healthy..  its un colonized in the yeasted portion but im sure the yeast will be dinner soon..  if my jar eats the yeast and the mycelium inside looks healthy would it be safe to spawn to bulk?  or would i be wasting time and sub?  thanks guys!

You might be okay if you break off the yeasty parts and use the rest to spawn bulk. I don't think yeast can spread to coir can it?

I have noticed that yeasty spawn seems to attract green mold. Tossing might be your best bet if your not really short on spawn.

Yeast is a fungus.

Edit- ok to keep the jar for observation. Give it a shake, see if it recolonizes.
