Blaming one's problems on an entire gender 1

I know it doesn't break any rules and I don't think its a big enough issue to make a rule or thread in WA&F over, but when people sat "women are evil" when they mean "I've never dealt honestly with a woman in my life" or "I've never met a decent girl because I have more issues than the periodical section," it really rustles my jimmies.
I'm not singling out the anon who just made the "women suck" thread, but it saps the joy right out of viewing this forum for me when people put their own personal problems onto entire genders.
I know I've seen "fuck men" threads too, this criticism applies equally. I've tried explaining it to the people making the threads several times, as other people have, it just doesn't seem to do any good.

I mostly just assume that they mean "fuck the guy/girl who hurt me" without naming directly.. so, I don't pay it much mind. But I agree, it does seem silly to blame the entire gender for one or several negative encounters.

i made the women suck thread. honestly, i think you are taking this waay too seriously. yes, the things you say are true. yes, everyone knows that. i think most people who looked at the thread realize it is just stress release, shit talking, not really hating on every single woman.

Anyone past the age of 16 who doesn't realize that stereotypes and blanket statements aren't 100% and simply only exist because it seems like they are the majority needs to come out from under the rock.

Why would someone say something they didn't mean, at least in that instant?
If someone says "I just want to kick a man in the balls," you think they're really thinking "God, I keep dating assholes?"
No, they're thinking they'd like to kick some dude in the junk.
I don't object merely because it's ignorant, I object also because it shows a failure of logic.
It shows that when the chips are down, when you're upset, you can't target that anger properly.
The fact that someone can deny it and say "oh, I didn't mean it was just an angry generalization" doesn't change the fact that at that moment, that was exactly their thought process.
When some chinaman cuts me off in traffic and I yell "FUCKING CHINKS CAN'T DRIVE," it's not just an angry generalization: it's because I'm racist.
At least in the traffic example there's a chance the situation wasn't somehow my fault.

I'm not accusing you of going door to door and disrespecting people, or even of somehow offending "women" as a group.
I meant to point out that these "general statements" indicate that the people making them have further to go than they think in terms of being well-adjusted.

you're right, but i still don't see what the big deal is. it's a natural way of expressing distaste. i really don't think a woman who says "i want to kick a man in the balls" is really thinking about actually hitting some random dude in the balls to release her anger. nor are statements like "women suck" meant to construe that every single woman in that person's eyes sucks.
if you want to break it down, yes it is illogical. yes it is stupid. does that mean we can't have fun or joke around some times? apparently not.

I personally love the threads where some lost soul goes on about how they are blaming some random 3rd party for the shit that they've allowed happen to themselves like they are just along for the ride in this little adventure we call life.

What I love is an analysis, of an analysis, of an analysis.
OMG did I just divide by zero?
Headfuck.

I do understand OP's point and agree, but I also understand the counter-view, that these people are just letting off steam. I, also, usually assume that people posting threads like this are spawned to action (and thus thinking of) a particular individual.
I agree with OP that generalizing the anger is not the healthiest way to deal with it, but if the person starting such a thread already understands this, the only real harm might be in popularizing anti-gender notions, or separatist-type thinking. (I suppose)
It annoys the shit out of me when i hear women complaining about "men" because I do, personally, feel lumped in with the assholes referred to, who in reality, I am nothing like. There are exceptions to every rule. But at the same time, I don't take personal offense every time I see this happen.
Unless, of course, it is much more blatant, specific, targeted ignorance and bigorty.

I am coming around to seeing that I do have more issues than the periodicals. It doesnt change the fact that Ive not met a reliable woman.
