On one of my first mushroom trips, quite a while back, I wound up turning on As I Lay Dying's Frail Words Collapse on the comedown and couldn't keep myself from dancing around my room. I couldn't get over how tight they sounded!
Not a huge metal fan anymore, but I'd love to eat a bunch of acid, put on some headphones and play a Converge album. I'm sure most of their stuff would be pretty intense.

This song was the most impressive to me on shrooms. Especially the little tangent beginning at 0:25.

The band Velvet Cacoon actually professed to writing all their music while on high doses of DXM, claiming to go out with an acoustic guitar on a small boat (2 people) in the middle of a lake highly dexed out to write their music.
Their debut album is called Dextronaut for fuck's sake!
Very... insectoid like:

That edenbridge song is awful. Metal is supposed to have spirit, energy, and riffs! That song had none of those. Sorry, anyways...
It's awesome listening to original music while tripping... these days if I listen to music tripping it's usually my band. Still though I am a huge metal fan... specifically black metal. Emperor will always hold a special place for me...

So basically you wanted them to yell louder and play faster and sound more evil. That's what you meant to say right?

If you watch the Emperor video he sings clean for the entire mid section of the song. I love all types of metal... clean singing included (Iron Maiden, Candlemass, Black Sabbath). Fuck Candlemass and Sabbath are DOOM... they play slow and it's still heavy as fuck.
Metal isn't about playing fast, yelling, or being evil... no. It's about writing good riffs, having spirit/energy, and being heavy.

What does that even mean though? The reason I like edenbridge is because the music is creative and doesn't sound like every other generic metal song.

Doom is my shit man.
And this is it done correctly. The grandfathers of death/doom metal:
I fell to my knees on this song once on a high dose LSA trip after the first riff kicked in which was also when I finished my blunt.
This same song also catapulted me into a dark, red demonic world on a yopo trip on a DXM afterglow.

This song came on while me and my friend were tripping at my apartment... I was too far gone to really notice and I love it in any state, but it made my friends trip spiral into a bad one Metal + psychedelics makes you feel so alive

One time I actually got veeeery irrational fear and paranoia from listening to metal on a high dose of psyches.
While listening to Deathspell Omega I believed I had inadvertently sold my soul to Satan and would forever be doomed to be damnation. It didn't help either that for a week after the trip, whenever I tried meditating the song riffs would randomly pop up in my mind... not good. Hey, it's not my fault the dark side has some pretty sick tunes!
It was this one:
Probably the most sinister, war-frenzied riffs I have ever heard. The individual whose mind this album was created in must be pretty fucking insane.
And the drumming...

Aren't they the band that Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal) drummed for for an album? I can definitely see that song sounding sexy on acid.

This is about as metal as I can go anymore. Though I still have those moment where I decide to rage out to heavier things. I can imagine good feelings coming from this song. More melodic then anything. Curse you Cypher, for getting me hooked on them!
Okay, I lied. I still love metal.

Ah Nightwish...takes me back. I picked up Angels Fall First back when it came out. Listened for a while to Nightwish, After Forever, Within Temptation, Ayreon, and more symphonic/melodic stuff. Saw Nightwish once or twice in those days, when they struggled to fill medium-sized venues and Tarja was still happily tagging along with the boys. Until I got sick & tired of it and then moved on. I still admire the musicality in that genre though, even though I rarely every listen to anything along those lines anymore.

Awesome
Fuck yeah, it'll be the fifth for me; first was in 2005, then I skipped 2006 or 2007 I think, since then every year. It's the best festival out here if you're a metalhead

Go for cavalera conspiracy, they still play some of the Sepultura oldies. Saw them two years ago on Graspop (Awesome Belgian metal fest)
I should check some gigs out again, more into electronic music these days
max plays sepultura oldies with soulfly too

Acid Bath are fucking groovy. Especially the bassline from Finger Paintings of The Insane
I do believe we should all smoke the bones of baby dolls sometime, old chaps.

By the way, anybody going to this year's Maryland Deathfest? The line-up is top-notch (as always)

I for sure want to see:
- INQUISITION********* - LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY - MARDUK - REGURGITATE - Wormed - Devourment - Impaled Nazarene - Cathedral - Exhumed - Lock Up - Machetazo - Nunslaughter - Defeated Sanity - Aura Noir - Cripple Bastards - Funebrarum - Noisear
Will trip so many fucking balls if I go.

I know I'm late to the thread but metal + psychedelics = I have spent many an acid trip lost in a metal trance
One of my most memorable trips was me dosing 5 hits of blue geltabs solo, and sitting at home all day by myself listening to Nevermore: Dreaming Neon Black on repeat, in a dark room. I don't know why that album out of all things, but that shit was crazy.
Another album I used to listen to ALL THE TIME while tripping was Opeth: Orchid,
It takes a certain kind of metal to get me in the right mindset for a trip, I can't really stand black metal when tripping for example, (or sober for that matter) unless it's really symphonic progressive black metal. And while I normally love a lot of death metal, I can't listen to a lot of it tripping. I'm really fond of the more progressive technical metal/progressive death metal

Usually the only big metal fest I ever manage to hit is Summer Slaughter,
Some insanely sick bands... and some questionable choices as well.. but its always fucking sick No Necrophagist this last year (headlined 3 years before) was a blow though
2010 Headliner:
* Decapitated
2010 Support bands:
* The Faceless * All Shall Perish * Veil of Maya * Decrepit Birth * Cephalic Carnage * Animals As Leaders * The Red Chord * Carnifex * Vital Remains

@Shroomism: Good fucking shit man. If it's symphonic progressive black metal you want I highly recommend Limbonic Art as well as Summoning if you aren't already familiar with them.
@Twighead: I actually was fortunate to have been at the first ever Summer Slaughter when Necrophagist was there. The drummer ended up doing this 10 minute jazzy technical drum solo to wrap up the show, shit was crazy!
