Living in a tent

I'm gonna try living in a tent for a few months and see how it turns out.
I've got a list of all the equiptment I need and I have money to buy food and batteries. I'll be in a hot country so won't get cold and drying clothes is easier.
After that I need; A hidden pitch Showers Clothes Washed and dried
I figured a place using google maps, that is near a camp site and a beach but is in some big natural bushes where I can hide. I'm planning on camping there because its a stealthy place where people are unlikely to go but its within walking distance of a campsite where I can pay a small amount to use washing facilities for me and clothes. I'll probly dry clothes by making a line in between trees.
Any other people lived the hobo lifestyle or got any advice?

Get away from my life here because I've become bored of it and need an adventure. I always wanted to live somewhere sunnier as well. Getting used to living and camping alone in nature is gonna be quite an adventure in itself. If I end up hating it then I'll just go to a hotel and find an apartment to rent :P

I ran into a couple that had been living in the woods for a good number of months. The girl had poison ivy like no other so I would recommend stocking up on all poison ointments and a really good first aide kit. They were cool, shared few beers with us and we shared a few bowls. A little screwy in the head though... Good luck.

I've wanted to do this for a while now.
What are you going to do for food OP? Don't forget garbage either.
Last year I stumbled upon a few random tents in the woods. I checked inside of one of them, luckily no one, but there was a ton of shit and blankets.
There were bags of garbage everywhere outside of the tent, this dude's been there for a while.
Very stealthy spot
I'd love to do this

I've got a fair bit of savings so I will just buy food. I'm going to be near (within 1 mile) of a city and a camp site at first. So I will be able to walk there and dispose of rubbish, take a shower, buy some food or clean my clothes.
I reckon I can blag a lot of facilities where I will be because its a tourist resort area and there are a lot of open showers, pools etc that don't have any security. As long as I look like a holiday maker and not a jungle bushman I should be able to blag their facilities
Leaving in 2 months so I will post some pictures and let u guys know how I'm getting on. Hopefully I enjoy it and will stick it out for a while.

Id like to do this. Me and my buddies found this old cabin in the woods when we were like 18. We used to chill and spend the night in it all the time. We were up there when the owners came one time, they were pretty chill and smoked some pipes with us. They told us we could go there as often as we wanted as long as we cleaned up after ourselves and didnt get hurt. Tripped for the first time up there with my two best friends and had a blast.
I was planning on spending a summer up there but a tree fell on it during a pretty bad windstorm a couple of years ago. I got some great memories out of that place though!

I'm not really taking any valuables but yeah I will have to keep everything with me a lot of the time - I'll have to pack up my gear into my rucksack each time I want to move. Kinda makes going out partying a bit shit but I'm not planning to do any night clubbing or anything like that. I might make some food stashes like a squirrel
I'm gonna hide my debit card, money and passport in a secret money belt that goes underneath the clothes - they will be my most valuable items really. Nothing else I'm taking is going to be worth anything much so no major loss really if anything is stolen.
If I did need to store some kit I could probably go to one of the camp sites and rent a locker.

I haven't much advice, but do have a couple gear recommendations.
If you have $25 one of these pocket showers should be a nice investment. Acts as much more than a shower too. Can use it as a drybag, to haul potable water, wash dishes, wash small articles of clothing. Tons of stuff.
Also, for comfortable shelter you may want to look into a hennessy hammock. A few other shroomerites have posted about them around here so I decided to get one myself... best camping investment ever. With a few accouterments and assuming you don't live in the arctic you won't even need a sleeping bag.
Also you could consider going primitive and make your own semi permanent shelter. Not like you'll have anything else to do hanging out in the woods all day - plus it'll be fun anyway.
Learn to meditate and you can occupy a lot of the free time you'll have with inner reflection.
Good luck to ya.
-------------------- External control, are you gonna let them get you? Do you wanna be a prisoner in the boundaries they set you? You say you want to be yourself, do you think they'll let you? They're out to get you.

Thanks man thats a brilliant suggestion - I'll def buy one of those, it solves a lot of issues.
I'm going to do some meditation - I have downloaded and converted to audio because its a good guide for me as I have never meditated before.
Much appreciation

I second the hammock advice if you are going solo and stealth style.. especially in a warmer climate. The are stealth and comfortable as a motherfucker.. don't forget to bring a knife, and a reliable way to filter water / start fire

I know someone who has a squatter camp outside of town. Sharp guy too, just doesn't like to pay rent. He uses the facilities at the university here for bathing and laundry, stores some stuff at a friend's house. It can be done quite easily. Being right outside of town makes it easy to get supplies but you don't want people stumbling upon your diggs either, make sure it's inconspicuous and off any sort of path. This is a jailable offense in many areas, so be prepared for that too.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing.
I'll have money saved for a bus ticket home, but I Just wanna see how far I can make it living with nature.
Thanks for the list, found somethings to add to my own
One thing I might suggest you add is a pocket guide to edible plants/mushrooms, and maybe a rope instead of the line.

i dunno if anyones mentioned this, but i'll type it now before i forget. Some campsites have time limits, like national forests you are only allowed to camp for 2 weeks in one spot. so even though yo uare hidden, the ranger or whoever is managing the shower facilities, will probably see you and remember you if you go there alot. two steps, fly casual, try and avoid seeing the caretaker, maybe he only comes around at a certain time each day. if you do see them, be genuine and nice and as chill as possible, so they wont kick you out.
the thing is, if you are on national forest or BLM land, you can camp anywhere for two weeks, so that shouldn't be an issue... where are you camping?

you NEED to go to a Rainbow Gathering, its the best way to live outside babylon. i used to think travelling alone was nice, but really i travelled alone because i couldn't find anyone that was anything at all similar to me, no kindred spirits. that was until i found the rainbow gathering, and just reading your posts sounds like you'd really enjoy it. you could definitely learn everything you need to know about anything there, how to live solo in the woods, how to pick medicinal and herbs for food, etc etc. theres so many cool people there its insane. sounds like you might be in the PNW, if so theres a national rainbow in Washington. there's regionals all over the world all year round. i'm hoping to go to Palenque Mexico for the end of the Mayan Calendar and there's going to be a gathering right at the ancient mayan temple sites, or at least very close by.

Ohm! Thanks for the replies guys. Leaving in 7 weeks if all goes to plan - just gotta pay off the tax man so that I'm set free
I'm camping in the wilderness of Spain. Stealth being my main weapon. I doubt anyone will find me, I'm pretty good at hiding but if they do I'll just hike on to a new spot.
I'd like to go to that gathering but its more of an American thing. I'm a european so I tend to stick around Europe. I'm probably just hiking Spain but maybe visiting france, belgium, switzerland, denmark, sweden afterwards.

Wow, I am so jealous. :-)
I hope that you enjoy your adventure. I would love to pack up and leave to the wilderness.
If you own a bicycle, I would highly suggest bringing that. (You could always lock it to a tree for storage)
Bring foraging and edible mushroom field guides. It is always good to know what you can eat around you.
A dutch oven will always come in handy, as well. Good way to cook over a fire.
Make sure to stay hydrated. Will you be near a source of water?
Also, take lots of pictures. I'll be looking forward to hearing about your adventures.
Best of luck!

Thanks,
I'll forage some foods the obvious stuff like fruit but mostly I'll be buying food from the towns I visit and then hiking out of town to camp at night.
I'll source water from the towns, I have a pocket solar shower for keeping clean au natural too
I plan to make some stealth camps near each town I visit.
Leaving in 6 weeks now. Will post some pics soon.

The kit so far
The little thing on the square cooking pans is a mini home made liquid fuel stove. The head light is a wind up, no batteries required.
Theres a pocket sized solar shower and a fast dry ultra light towel.
The tent is a standard 2 man dome and a mummy sleeping bag.
Theres a money belt to prevent my dosh being pinched by pick pockets and a Spanish phrase book.
A compass, string, matches, lighter and gas, flip flops, mirror, tooth paste/brush, nailclipper and bottle opener.
Rucksack is 100 litre beast. Military grade, comfortable and strong.
