I am poating here because I do not think it belongs in grow log and pictures section.
This is just a summary of what a FOAF did to have a nice learning experience with these oft disappointing little things.
First off spawn was created using a mixture of horse poo, vermiculite and some cooked white rice. About a quart of poo was mixed with about a cup or so of vermiculite and then about a cup of white rice.
This mixture was mixed with the addition of tap water until the proper moisture was achieved.
This was autoclaved in three pint jars and then innoculated using standard pieces of white rice covered with mycelium.
After the jars were fully colonized a quart of horse poo was prepared using .a water bath at 170 degrees . This was spawned using the pint jars.
The incubation container was a simple gallon jar laying on its side. (Incubation chamber was too short to stand the jar on end).
Incubated at 85 degrees for about a week in darkenss. Then temperature dropped to 75 degrees with the addition of light. Pins a week later with increased air exchanges . Keep in mind FOAF DID NOT USE A CASING LAYER.
I myself was amazed with what appeared to be a misprint in TMC.
They seem to behave much the same as the cubies do.
Anyway there you go concerning necessity of casing with pan cyan.
With that in mind I will keep a look out for other things that may be somewhat misleading in the literature.

Id believe it. Pan cyans are one of the few species ive encountered that readily fruit invitro on agar plates.
Pics would be nice.

Oh how I would love to post a pic. I have no camera. Even a pic to scan and send. It is so neat looking at a one gallon jar on its side with the things all over. They are hitting rounded top of jar now. Peace all.
