You'd be surprised
I've got long fingers
Not that I was playing it "right", or well
I've gotten a lot better now though
Yes it is a lot better to play hendrix with all four fingers. I think he played a lot of his lead stuff with just the three though, the pinky when necessary.

Hendrix had stupid huge hands and still used his pinky 96.3 % of the time.

I dont know buddy but I'll tell you what, and you don't have to believe me if you don't want
I shred the fuck out of the guitar and I still only use my pinky when necessary. My other three fingers do most of the work.

You mean his style of chord comping like in little wing and such?
If so, then yes, I agree, and that is why I started forcing myself to use my pinky. I never had any trouble playing blues licks with just the three fingers. Of course I'm a lot faster with four.

...that's just what I said. My style limits me. I am certainly not bragging about it. I couldn't play flamenco guitar, for example. It's a style I am not familiar with.
I picked up guitar at 14 and never took lessons. I watched live footage of many guitarists, like most self taught people do. That's not necessarily the best place to learn the basics. I never really learned songs either, I always just wrote my own (not bragging...they were shitty). So yes, I have a personal style, and yes, it limits me. How can you NOT develop a personal style when the only musician you write songs with is yourself?

I wasn't really replying too you or anybody in particular.

He was made to play guitar. Just like Michael Phelps was made to swim. Quote:

It depends on how you look at it. Unless I misunderstand what you mean... I think your statement is one of ignorance.
Style isn't about confining yourself to limits, it's about creating a sound that is distinctively YOU. There are some bands you listen to an think "Nobody but _________ could have made this"
THAT is style.
I know it's now the cool thing to pretend to like all type of music and want to play all types of music. But I would consider most of my favorite musicians great because they created their own unique sound (or style)
Edit- To chime in on the above convo. Jimi Hendrix had fucking STYLE. Yes, you better believe it... he had a charasma and sound all his own that nobody else could ever replicate.

I've always had the problem of musician flakes when it comes to a band setting.
It seems so many people are more interested in doing their own ego thing.
I really just want to start right from the basic basics and learn to play in time and key before i run off and do some flaky crazy thing before we can put 2 and 2 together.
