its okay to imagine, but to fixate on the unknown and detach yourself from reality is :braindamage:.

you dont know whats going to happen and these so called, "scientist" think they have an idea, but thats it.

yes shit is fucked up especially the economy with the dollar going down and the east getting rich, and is going to get worse very soon.

some people just dont want to admit it and are bamboozled by the governments/media saying "dont worry we have everything under control".
no one can say whats coming in the next few years ,but it sure ain't going to be "business as usual" as its been since WW2.:2cents:

I have a good idea, obviously, the US needs a Department of Solar Discharges and a 'Solar Discharge Czar'  Then they can hire a few thousand people to staff the department, and tax the shit out of us to support it.

I don't believe we are lucky enough for "2012" to happen, life will come and go as it always has, I for one would be happy for mass destruction of the electrical grid, it makes doing drugs safer lol the police will no longer be able to control us without their tools of oppression

because there's nothing wrong with them i assume? you guys are getting on my nerves with this assuming that somewhere in this thread i said that this is going to be the solar storm to end all solar storms or some shit. If you knew anything about the subject matter then you would be aware of the fact that a storm of that size is not going to set us back much and the damage it causes, if any, would be minimal and temporary.

You mentioned yourself that everyone you know including yourself were having trouble with their cell phones.

not only that, the cable and internet in my region as well. what's your point? what part of this storm was large but not major and the damage was more disruption if anything and was temporary due to the intensity of the storm do you know understand. for the second time in plain english. not only that but why would you assume the storm would still be here? that's like a single thunderstorm lasting for a week or more.

its kind of sad that most of you look at global destruction as a positive happening because "it will be easier to do drugs", or "im bored in life so i want to witness a nation wide massacre from either our government or natural disasters."

my honest opinion. most on here are strung out, idiot, life revolving around getting high, living off of mommy and daddies pay checks while i go to school and learn about new drugs type kids.

how could you possibly hope for some sort of an apocalypse or natural disaster? pull your head out of your ass an actually think about it.

rofl whats the deal dude? you put so much into all of your other posts but when you respond to me(after ignoring me the first few posts) its 3 words for 2 questions...
is it something i said?

what is slow exposure?

what kind of question is that? what is slow exposure. it's pretty self explanatory. this is what the news is good for slowly trickling doctored information that is already known to the higher ups. we're being conditioned as things make the transition from mystical occultism to accepted scientific fact.

well its kind of hard to interpret your 3 word post for my two questions when u dont quote me to show which question your responding to. i assumed the "sure" was for my second question and the "slow exposure" was for my first.. Since you have so many interesting articles rooted in scientific research I assumed this "slow exposure" was a scientific hypothesis that has been talked about by people in the community, maybe has some research behind it.. thought maybe u had another article that would talk about it... Didn't think that you just came up with that on your own and meant it literally; that the sun was exposing us to the intensity of the solar cycle slowly.

I thought all your recent posts were really interesting, i even e-mailed a couple people that article about Tyche from cnn...  Reading all that stuff just made me more curious so i read all the articles i saw on the subject.. Now I dont know about u but i learn by asking questions, i figured u might be able to answer them since you seem interested in the topic, you even make threads about it.. So I apologize if questions offend you, i meant no... disrespect? cuz u seem offended.. Im not sure if you think im hinting at something or what but for you to make inferences based on ambiguous text is ignorant and frankly annoying.. Next time ask a question youself..

Maybe try re-reading all my posts in a new light because i have no idea why u seem so bothered by me.. im one of the few keeping the damn thread on track.. From what i read this has been a lackluster solar cycle and there is no indication that this active part of the cycle will be significantly more powerful than cycles in years past. However, that does not mean it won't be.. which is why i was wondering if u had read something that would make you think it WAS going to be more intense.. If you are just making that assumption based on the fact that there was a class x flare and 2 CME's this early in the active part of the cycle im unconvinced, but again, doesnt mean it wont happen.. and we are both just speculating, nothing personal, right???

We all know shits fucked up.  Some of us look at it intensely and others ignore it like an ostrich with its head in the sand.

All thats certain is that nobody knows what the future holds.

Its still important to entertain the reality of the concepts though.  Something big is around the corner.  It always has been - consistently through out history.  We just have to remember that theres nothing wrong with looking at the possibilities or stating your view on their importance / likeliness.

Either way the universe is going to keep turning and throwing the unexpected out at us.  Our generations beneath will accept things, we never thought could happen, as fact.

Things may not look the best they ever have but there is a lot of people who go over board(im NOT talking about you o.p., do NOT misinterpret).  We got through a lot of things and I think we are more resilient than people think.  We live in a time where people crave drama, so things can easily get blown out of proportion.

Having said that, its very true that none of know what the future holds.. and we all get our info from the people actually researching, so in reality we have a very small window into their world.. we are all speculating..

Not really sure what u meant by there is something big around the corner and there always has been throughout history but ill let this have the test of time and read research along the way.. But when you say that there is nothing wrong with stating your view on the importance/likeliness of possibilities I think you have to remember that this all subjective and sometimes we have to think out of the norm.. Consider stephen hawking.. he said that some matter "disappeared" when it went into a black hole.. considered absolutely absurd and illogical amongst the community...  Granted, over 30 years later, we know this isnt true... However it opened the possibility to parallel universes, thanks to hawking sticking on the subject.  I say talking about the stuff is all fine and dandy but unless you are an active researcher you really arn't able to say anything with ANY sort of certainty and we should keep this in mind. light-hearted conversation for everyone!

I wish i could see life in the distant future when we are capable of so much more.. but it will be interesting if we can outlive/outsmart the collision of the milky-way and andromida galaxies... Unless we figure out how to break through dark matter we have about 6 billion years of humanity left unless something kills us first.. but this collision.. you can bank on that being the end lol(they calculated the two galaxies moving towards each other at 250,000 MPH i believe).

Space.com – Sat Feb 26, 11:00 am ET
This story was updated at 10:52 a.m. EST.
The sun unleashed a powerful flare Thursday (Feb.24) that – while not the strongest solar storm ever seen – let loose a massive wave of magnetic plasma in a dazzling display.
The solar flare kicked up a huge, twisting tendril of plasma that scientists call a solar prominence. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the flare in an eye-catching video, with mission scientists calling the eruption a "monster prominence."
"Some of the material blew out into space and other portions fell back to the surface," NASA scientists wrote in a statement released Friday (Feb. 25). [Amazing Sun Photos from Space]
Dazzling sun flare
Thursday's solar flare was the latest in a series of strong sun storms this month. Scientists classified it as an M3.6 Class solar storm. NASA described the solar eruption as a "rather large-sized flare."
Scientists use a three-class system to measure the strength and intensity of solar flares. The most powerful sun storms are Class X – a Class X2.2 solar flare erupted on Feb. 14. Class M solar storms are medium strength but still powerful, according to a NASA description. The weakest types of solar flares are Class C storms.
Thursday's solar flare erupted from a new spot on the sun called sunspot 1163, according to the website Spaceweather.com, which monitors space weather and skywatching events. The flare was not aimed at Earth, and so should not pose a concern to satellites or other systems.
"Earth was little affected," Spaceweather.com reported Friday. "Plasma clouds produced by the blast did not come our way."
The active sun
The sun is in the midst of an active phase of its 11-year solar weather cycle. The current cycle is known as Solar Cycle 24.
Strong solar flares aimed at Earth can disrupt satellites and power grids, as well as pose a hazard to astronauts on spacecraft.  They can also spark dazzling shows of the northern lights, or aurora borealis.
The threat of solar flares to satellites and infrastructure has been gaining notice among decision makers lately. Last week, Jane Lubchenco – the chief of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – told a gathering of scientists that the United States must take steps to protect assets from potentially dangerous space weather events.
"This is not a matter of if, it's simply a matter of when and how big," Lubchenco said of the potential for a dangerous solar flare. "We have every reason to expect we're going to be seeing more space weather in the coming years, and it behooves us to be smart and be prepared."
