tolerance isn't an issue after a week or so, but you won't get the trip your looking for unless you have a lot of really strong hits.
I always space out my trips with LSD at least 3 months or so apart otherwise I just don't get the full effect, I trip and get visuals, but the spiritual aspect, probably the "shock" (is a better word) that you get when you take acid and see the world in a completely different way is not there when you begin to dose too heavily and too often.
As your body gets more and more familiar with the chemical, the effect it has on your system loses that special edge. it's just like if you drink too much coffee it doesn't wake you up as much anymore because your body gets used to dealing with caffeine.
Mushrooms I don't seem to have that problem, I dosed consecutively for a whole season last year, every week or 2 weeks almost and just had to up my dosage by a gram or too if my trips where too close together.

I've taken mushrooms 5 times. Hard to say what level I have been to because my hardest trip was 2.5g in tea and I was falling through multiple dimensions of reality while laying in bed.
I smoke copious amounts of weed, have also tried ecstasy, salvia, DMT (but that was pretty fail), and something i was told was 5-MeO-DALT. I'm not afraid to go pretty deep down the rabbit hole. I typically have a ridiculous tolerance to everything but am still typically cautious (took 2 tabs of ecstasy my first time and rolled only half as hard as my friend who took only 1, there are plenty of other examples as well).
I'm rethinking my dosage. Might do 1 tab, feel it out and take a second if I want to go deeper, then try 3-4 tabs 1-2 weekends later if I'm confident.

I am interested in how much you are dosing. I wouldn't think someone would have to space their trips out that much to feel the full effects.
I space my trips out 2 months apart and seems to be enough for me to feel the same each time. Never done it anymore frequently than that. I would have thought it would only take about a month to have your tolerance level return to "normal".

I dose 1 or 2 strong blotters usually, and I definitely have the full experience each time. this paper is a decent trip with 1/2, strong with only 1, and 2-5 hits would absolutely turn most people into a psychedelic puddle of goo.
It's not like I plan the time out in between trips, but I know I don't usually take acid more then 3 or 4 times a year because it can be hard to come by, and because I don't want to lose it's magic too quickly.
A month would be enough for some people, but I guess personally I just prefer to take more time to integrate my trips, enjoy reality for a while (and other substances), and keep my tolerance with LSD at a minimum. I've taken acid for nearly a decade now and I still get blasted on 1 tab, and even 1/2's! which is good news for my tolerance
