Right now I'm trying to copy some Jack White stuff.. the way this dude turns power chords into songs is amazing. I'm having trouble between jumping between a chord at the 5th fret and a 15 notes in 2 second solo at the 15th fret

I try not to limit myself to any style... I try to incorperate ambient/psychedelic/death metal/classical/jazz and whatnot into my music... it doesn't usually work out so keen But think between the buried and me with slightly less metal...
Imma playin' on a Schecter c-1 classic... Sometimes when tripping I find it more fun to look at than play

Hmm never played on that exact amp but the last two amps I've bought have been voxs and I'm very happy with them
The current one I'm playing through is a hybrid solid/tube, the pre-amps are tubes but the power amps are solid state.. but they sound quite sexy....

yeah i'm kind of nervous about getting one of those, i think i'll just save a G and get an all tube stack, thatll give me plenty of time to practice and get good enough to warrant spending a G on an amp

Fender blues jr, baby
Only buy all tube
I would never buy a solid state amp, nor would I buy one of those half tube amps either. Just get the real thing. You're going to end up getting it anyway. I played through the shitty fender transistor for years and I never realized just how shitty it sounded. Until I got this blues jr a few years ago and I will never go back. I played through a hybrid amp of a friends' and I thought it sounded like shit. Given, it was a peavey. But still. If you want the real thing, that all those other amps are just trying so hard to emulate, just go get that little $130 epiphone tube combo. Its perfect. 5 watts is loud in tube watts. It would blow a 50w transistor combo away in tone and probably volume too, for most practice and probably even gigging purposes. I'd take that over a hybrid tube amp any way.
My dream amp is a vox ac30 or maybe an ac15 would do. With greenbacks! And a gibson es-335 of course, with a sunburst finish.

Im sure those vox hybrid tube amps sound decent, because its vox. But to twighead...You say you can't gig with 50 watts??? Thats insane to me. Unless its just really not that loud (which would support my point about real tube amps). Because I had a 60 watt all tube amp that was honestly too loud to gig with. I was constantly being asked to turn down. I had to keep the master volume at under 2 always. I turned it up to five once and it was SCARY loud, like painful. What do you do with something that loud? Well if it were the 60s and nobody mic'd anything, and you wanted to be loud as fuck, it would be perfect. But if you asked some of those guys now, they'd probably say they wished they played at lower volumes and retained more of their hearing sensitivity. I don't know why guys buy stacks unless they really are playing stadiums because you just can't get good sound out of a big powerful amp at low volumes. What you want is a low-power tube amp, so you can push it hard, and get great sound without going deaf. 15 watt tube amps are PLENTY loud enough to play at bars or clubs or wherever especially since almost all venues provide the opportunity to be mic'd and ran through the PA. Theoretically you could play a stadium with a blues jr, you just need a great sound guy. Its better that way - great sound at reasonable volumes. So you can control it. And still loud as fuck!

Oh don't get me wrong the 50w hybrid can get loud as hell - not as loud as a pure 50w tube but louder than a 75w SS... the only problem is that our band played death metal so the drummer even unmic'd was extremely loud + we were opening and the venues didn't care enough to mic up our amps Also I did not have noise reduction gear so pushing the amp to its limit caused quite a feedback problem.
But with volume - it can be a little deceiving... say 1 on the dial = 80 or so db, to reach 10db higher you turn your amp to 2, 10db higher than that is 4, 10db higher than that is 8... and so on, so that first half makes by far the most difference in volume - once you hit 5 you were probably near your amps maximum volume

Twighead,
I had a dream about your guitar.
I was looking at this thread a couple of days ago, and I saw the pic of your guitar and how you said it's fun to look at when you're tripping, and I saw it briefly, quietly agreed that it indeed would be interesting to look at while you were tripping, and moved on and thought nothing more about it.
Well, last night, I had a dream, and in it, I was on a beat up old bus with some other musicians, I have no idea where we were going, we had some driver driving and all of us were partying out in the middle of nowhere at night, just cruising down some lonesome highway.
I was tripping really hard in the dream... one of those mind blowing trips where you're walking a fine line between a glorious overload of magic euphoria and a hellish nightmare, and one slight change of mood could determine heaven or hell.
One of the other guys (I have no idea who these people are) handed me a guitar in such slow motion that the trails were almost mirrored images of the real thing. It's amazing to me how the subconscious mind works, because if someone would have asked me to describe your guitar yesterday before I had the dream, I wouldn't of been able to do it, but in the dream, it looked exactly like the one in the picture you posted, even down to the distinct blue patterns on the fretboard.
I started playing Led Zeppelin's 'Dazed and Confused' on the guitar, which wasn't plugged in, but still amplified, I heard the rest of the instrumentals come in like you would normally hear in the song, but no one else was playing. The guitar sounded of pure resplendence as it gleamed brilliantly in majestic hyper-color. As the song progressed, the bus faded away and everything just became images and sounds of indescribable magnificence.
It'd be nice to have trips like that when I was conscious, haha.
But anyhow, I thought you might be interested to know that your guitar was a feature in some stranger's awesome ass dream.
Cheers

That sounds like an absolutely spectacular dream! It doesn't get much better than trippin' and playin' music in your sleep.
How did it play? Perhaps its a sign you should pick one up The wood grain and inlays

I think they run anywhere from 800-1100 new, but I'm not sure if they even make the exact line anymore...
I found mine on ebay for 400 and it was pretty much mint, I've seen a couple around for 400-500 on craigslist recently as well.

That's cool, the last guitar I was thinking about buying was $6,000, decided not to go so high-end and wind up in credit card debt... so $600-$1100 would be much better.
I am in the market for a new Electric guitar, and a new acoustic guitar with built in pick ups.
I write music, some requires straight up electric guitar like when I write 70's style hard-rock and a lot of the music I write is more like a 50's rockabilly meets folk kind of 60's pre-punk which prefers a more vintage acoustic sound.
You can make an acoustic guitar sound awesome with a vox amp, gain mid with distortion, like a velvet underground kind of sound.
anyhow, I'll make sure I tell the salesman at the guitar center why I'm interested in checking that one out, haha.
