Hello,
I'm just starting out with Mushrooms and took some photos of mushrooms growing in the forests here in Grenada.
If you can ID this mushroom, I would be grateful...
John

#2) I assume Ganoderma sp. #3) What was this growing from? You should carefully dig up the entire base next time, this looks like Amanita. #5) Schizophyllum commune

I just returned from Barbados and I wouldn't expect a single mushroom to grow on this little dry speckle of coral reef. Despite the inevitable short tropical showers the water just seems to disappear through the cracks and within 5 minutes everything is bone dry again. I know that some of the smaller Caribbean and Pacific Islands DO in fact sport cubes and Pans (I have original St. Lucia cube genetics and Pan cyans from the ridiculously tiny island of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands archipel in the South Pacific), but it really makes you wonder where these species are able to take a foothold.

Wait, what? What makes you think that? It's white and small, nothing makes me think of pink oyster...

Pleurotus djamor are not always pink - white varieties are common in Puerto Rico and the surrounding area. If it tastes "plasticy" then its Pleurotus djamor.

Awesome! I had no idea! Honestly, I've never even grown P. djamor, I've only seen pictures, and all have been very pink.

Thanks for all the replies. I realize that this info as presented is weak. ie. No spore print, environmental info, gill photos etc. Thanks for not giving me a lecture about this.
I will have another round of Grenada mushroom photos in a few weeks. There has been a lot of rain here in the "dry season", so we should have some good Mushroom growth.
