Hi all!
30yoSWF from Vancouver, Canada
I'm totally new to ethnobotany & I'm hoping to get some great advice/direction & meet new friends in the hobby. I am an avid aquarist & have learned that the best way to start/learn is from community forums/classifieds.
I'm currently looking for cuttings for salvia divinorum & kartom to grow in one of my empty fish tanks. It has halides so i figured why not? lol
So upon learning the various strains of each, which would people recommend for the best "experience"?
I haven't been through all of the sponsers shops as of yet, but most don't seems to ship to Canada? Are there any that do?
There are local shops in Vancouver that sell cuttings but they range from $40-$70cdn, WHEN they are available....and that is too much. I think the looming ban has gone to their heads. I've bought/sold corals from fellow aquarists for $5 that would sell in stores for over $100 so I'm hoping the same courtesy applies here?
Directions for some cuttings would be appreciated, I'm hoping to have a garden established before the ban kicks in just in case it takes a few "trial & error" shipments/plants.
Anyway, if anyone has some "must have" advice for me or just wants to say hi please do so.
Sorry if I've broken any rules posting this.
Cheers, Tracers

I advise you to stay out of the pub, otd, romper room, and never divulge personal info or pics because it will all be used to dump hate on you. Maybe you should try mycotopia.net

Don't mind Larry. The Pub is pretty well maintained and fun, if you can handle the occasional juvenile bullshit.
Kratom doesn't do well indoors. It needs a constant warm, swampy climate, with lots of room to thrive.

lol Thanks for the heads up
You think it would fair well indoors in an empty tank though? Or should I find something similar & hardier?

I think as far as similar goes, you'd need poppies. Kratom is the only naturally occurring non opiate opioid that I know of.
From what I hear, the alkaloid content of kratom depends a bunch on the health of the plant, and average plants are 30 ft or more, so unless the tank is a giant greenhouse, you'd be stunting the plant, making it unhealthy, and generating a weak product.
Salvia, I do believe, can be actively grown to a desirable strength.
If I remember correctly, problems from cultivating salvia come mostly from germinating seeds, so if you get a healthy cutting, it's on.
I know culinary sage is quite easy to cultivate.
(edit: Larry is a pretty swell fellow as well, but I think he's having a shitty time at the moment)

Most of the Shroomerites I meet in person just call me 'Casil'
The origins of Todcasil were two-fold:
My nickname in REAL life is Casil, since I can do an 16 minute run of Super Mario Bros, a feat back on my block, though nowhere near the best all time.
Also Todd Casil is a character from Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, Squee; whom I love very muchly.

THOUGH when people call me Todcasil, like 'Todd Caasul', I don't mind one bit as I am sure that is how most people say my name in their heads when they read it
