Anyone else notice this before falling asleep?

There's a pattern of thoughts in your head such as thinking about something as your laying down than all of a sudden the thought starts to deform and you lose 'conscious grip' of the thought and you let go if it consciously but in the process of 'letting go' your body falls into sleep.
Anyone else every notice this before?
I've been 'toying' with this for the past 2 weeks or so, and it works every single time. I consciously think about something and slowly let it go, this can take some time because any little distraction can make you re think it consciously. It's hard when your trying not to think about not thinking about your thoughts. lol
Which makes sense to me because on stressful nights i stay awake longer because i'm unable to escape the conscious thinking until i've worked through my thoughts and feelings.

I think I sort of understand what you are talking about. It's like that fuzzy period where you're halfway asleep and halfway awake, and then you snap out of it all of a sudden.
I wish I could master this. I sure could use it on those nights that I get anxiety over not getting enough sleep because of having to be at work so early the next morning.

Yeah same goes for me. Especially if it is thoughts or feelings of worry about the world. I must remind myself that some things are out of my control, and I cannot change them. That these thoughts are unnecessary. To not fear death, because everyone must die. That worrying is a waste of time, and that my worries and troubles may not be there tomorrow. I might as well try to live in peace and happiness and ride until the wheels fall off...
I remind myself this every night. It clears my mind, and I fall asleep.

I sorta experience what you're describing, at times...
Most of the time, though, while laying in bed for sleep I literally cease all thoughts. Not a single thought is running through my mind, I just lay there and "be". Occasionally I will ponder dreams.....

For me I usually notice a switch in my visual perception go from my closed eyes, up into my mind. Then if I dont think of anything at all its like my minds eyes open, I can feel them open and blinking even though my eyes are shut then if I dont think of anything my dream world will materialize from a mist in the mental darkness into solidity.

Yeah, when I was a kid I would always make up little stories where I'd have super powers, and it would progress a little further on its own every night. I imagine quite a few books have probably been written like that.

I could leak a liquid metal out of my skin that could harden into swords and shit, or it could cover my body and cloak me like predator. I'd use my abilities to liberate enslaved towns during one apocalyptic scenario or another.

Awe man that's way more creative than mine. I would absorb the energy of those I defeated. I started out fighting normal people and then wen to other worlds fighting large armies of beings and demons. Eventually I was fighting some of 12 head demons in hell.

I know exactly what you mean if you can practice "letting go" you can lucid dream this way by quickly(without becoming to surprised) catch yourself and go with it for a bit then slowly start doing as you please or completely change it.
eventually with practice you can do anything you want i've only felt that a couple times though but was amazing

That was my goal at first but it seems that this method doesn't work for that. As soon as I let go and remain in the state of letting go, I fall into deep sleep. And it isn't until the morning where I'm like fuck I fell asleep mad fast.
I have more lucid dreams if I try to remember what it is that I dreamed. Writing it down, saying it out loud helps more than just letting go.
If dreams are your unconscious, than bringing them into conscious reality would be a. Paradox right? I find it fascinating how much the unconscious and conscious mind differ. My dream scenario can be lived out consciously but not in the way that my unconscious lives it out.
